Did some barley today little disappointed 60 but
it's poorer field of the two. Fun to see my 13 year
old picking up swaths all day his younger brother
tracking with the hired man and the rhird
combine doing peas. Cargill closed sat and
Sunday, nice real nice. If it didn't flood out again
would have been a bin buster oh well 2012
should be good since I'm desicating most fields
    corner to corner, were back!

Seems a lot of canola coming off the fields around here in under the 8 days in swath. I am thinking its getting hauled to elevator as binning it would be risky even if it is 6 percent moisture. My canola I am going to estimate at 40 bushels now after still swathing it. Actually looks better in field than from road. Over 41 would actually be my best ever canola crop.

Finally got rolling on my canola today. Might be better than I thought, but so inconsistent. Higher areas i would guess at 50 plus, lower flat areas 0-5, and midslopes 35-40. Now if someone could just calculate how much of each I have on my farm, I may get a half accurate estimate...

Just a bit too much early rain. Three inches less and she would have been a bumper.

First time I've done anything in August in many, many years. I think since 2003, actually. Nice to be out in the warm sun, and relatively long days. Good luck to all, and may safety reign supreme as we all do our utmost to produce food for the ungratefull masses.

Swathing by the way, not combining, when I say rolling.
