I guess thats why all those canola crushing plants are being built on the outskirts of New York City. Semolina can be shipped to the populated areas just as easy as canola oil and meal.

Mustard, the "Crow rate" was gone long, long ago. You are talking about the Crow Benefit" administered under the WGTA. I don't know anyone who wanted it gone. (Though it was declining and running out anyway).
I wanted it paid to farmers. Poolies, wheat board nuts and the like wanted it paid to the railways, yes, the very same you seem to dispise.
Thanks for the legacy.

Larry thanks for the names of the movers and shakers in the Pasta industry. Are any of their products within 3 feet of EYE Level at your local Safeway?

And Larry while you are at it list off all the numerous beef and pork packing plants in western Canada.
No CWB involvement there.

Lweber: I read that "our" Viterra now owns "Dakota Growers Pasta Company, Carrington". Interesting, eh?
I read that "La Rinascente Pasta, Hope" makes "housewares".
I read that "Conte Luna Foods, Grand Forks" has been making pasta for 100 years in the U.S.A. Have a well established business.
Looks like the Americans invest in their own country...wonder why the Canadians are so reluctant to invest. I suppose our market is pretty small in comparison to that of the U.S.A.

Braveheart if the crow benefit was paid to the rroad and the gov't of the day decided to Not make a payment they would have hell to pay from the Huge RR lobby.
If they decided to not pay the farmers,no problem farmers are stupid and will still vote for the same gov't expecting different results.

Mustard and Ian:
I will play your game if you give an explanation why durum prices are $160.00 a tonne higher in the U.S. spot market than what is available for our farmers on an FPC....
CWB asking price yesterday St. Lawrence... per bushel
CAD....$16.16
FPC....$7.47
PRO....$9.77
North Dakota - CAD$11.91
That should even make the dead people who voted in the election blush...
Why??

Mustardman you're such a great adcvocate for farmers. It's no surprise you favor the railways and CWB over the interests of farmers.
