Well its friday, fun week had the demo on monday with the new deere combine. Then it rained monday night and into tuesday morning. Didnt total more than a half inch but it was a slow slow drizzel. Just got going again late last night. It was 12 at noon on canola. HRS not even close.
We have finally got to 60 percent done. But still need 12 good days.
Canola early on pea stubble was phenominal. Enough said. Then we waited a week seeded Durum and went back to seeding canola on HRS stubble. Lets just say the next 5 quarters we harvested were oh whats the word. Yea the shits. So 10 on Black ground and pea stubble good 5 on heavy hrs stubble and flooded ground the shits. Mow the last 10 should be good to average.
Big rain event week of farm progress show did major damage and also week of searing head in july did more damage than one thought.
AVERAGE CROP.
Early HRS is bagged and will grade a 2 high protien.
Later we will start today or tomorrow.
Most in area are at 60 to 100 percent done. Larger guys closer to 60, smaller farmers at 100.
Every one is getting out their old cultivator or discer or disc and going hard on the ground. Ruts are causing problems because now their hard as rock and are doing damage to equipment.
Surprise was the half inch and water was standing in some ruts. Moisture is still a concern with no snow and very little in may we will be on our way to excellent 2012 but heavy snow wet fall and spring and were sunk.
Notes isnt it funny how the USA says they will be in recession for years and all investors drop comodities and rush to the US dollar. Hm Id be leaving a sinking ship and running away from them.
Farmers selling out to foreigners and land companies just ps me off. Only winner is the Useless realestate agent and the land company for now. Farmer is screwed. Why not sell to local guy who was your neighbor for same money. split it up Im sure it would be snapped up fast and the seller would come out ahead with no realestate fees ext.
Example in point one genius in our area rented at 50 to 60 an acre starting 5 years ago with the floods he was done this spring and now works for the land company as a hired man and will become a serf. Hm boy did it work out fine for this guy. What a crock. After harvest this is a serious topic and selling to foreingers and becoming serfs doesnt work for me.
Any way what is every ones harvest percentage.
