I have a huge problem and need Help!!!!!!

Lets start out by saying we farm in four Rural Municipalities and have no problems with any of them. We fix roads on our own if need access or ask for assistance.
But here is my Dilemma. Have a NDPer who is councilor. He is young and trying to make his mark. All power to him. But here is problem. Every time we need help on a road he snubs us. Worst road in RM guess where it is. Yet no grader no gravel no repair. IT was Called Road closed up until mid July. But yet every useless back road to no where is graded graveled etc. He built a Dam to hold back water on my land to save a yard this spring then said its my water so I have to keep it. Funny how one side of road Water other is dry as a bone. Natural run yet its your water. No one offered to pay compensation and I am sure my taxes went to build the super structure to hold back the water. Its so obvious that he is trying to make a point its sickening. Now yes some say run against him and you can do your own thing. Problem we live in a NDP area so by all accounts Guess what I would loose just by numbers over and over. Every election its so simple it hurts. Even this fall it will be 44 NDP and 19 Cons.
So what does one do. Is their a Legal way to deal with this or is it time for Saskatchewan to go to a county system and stop this Rural Vendettas system.

I have dealt with a simmilar problem and called the Reeve of see the situation and explained the problem. It was dealt with immediately.

Your situation sounds like something out of the old west. Maybe we need to bring in John Wayne? lol. Are all the councillors of the same ilk? Have you sent a letter to council so the entire council is aware of this NDPer's antics.

This is always a frustrating situation. Good luck with it pilgrim.

Agree with braveheart send a letter to council, document your problems. and what you would like to see for a solution.
If that doesnt work get your lawyer to send the letter.

Councilors are elected/acclaimmed to serve their ratepayers and as far as I am concerned to serve everyone equally and fairly. Some people can't stand another man's prosperity, and when in a position of power, sabatoge them when ever possible. Is this truly "your" water from some drainage project upstream? If it isn't and there is no more risk of flooding your neighbour's yard the dam should be opened to let the water take it's course down the so called natural run. Maybe the RM will act if they get a letter from your legal counsel. I suppose you could take a chance and run against him in the next division election or run for the Reeves position. Good luck. People can be so petty!!!

No this isn't from one of my drainage projects its a Half section with only one natural run way, yet all summer the culvert is blocked with sandbags and a Grid road was built for 600 ft. Hm nice road. Problem is no one wants the Job and he does know that. Looking for every possible solution its starting to effect business since Semis delivering product to farm have problem accessing and nothing has been done all summer and winter is almost upon us.

Second sentence of your initial post says
"We fix roads on our own if need access or ask for assistance. "

If it is interrupting your business so much then, fix it on your own. Then your farm will be profitable and the money you will make will take your whole family to Cuba this winter.

I also send this RM close to $25000 a Year in Taxes so do you not think I'm tired of repairing roads and maybe want some value for what I pay!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does Saskatchewan allow the damming of water
                    onto people's land?

Last spring a county culvert was blocked and it
flooded out about 10 acres of my crop. All it took
was one phone call and they had someone out to
clean it out right away. In Alberta that's the law,
                    anyway.

The biggest problem with some county councillors
is that they don't spend too little time creating
good policy to allow employees to deal with day
to day problems. Instead they'll rack up per
diems and expenses having meetings to deal
with things that they don't have good policy for.

SF3, who is your MLA, he's looking to get his job back this month, get ahold of him. Sask.Water has authority over R.M.s and they will usually make a unbiased decision that the R.M. has to uphold.

                        Sooooooooooo, there is somebody you
don't get along with. Wow, and you are
Super Framer, or at least you tell us
you are! Saskboy has a problem. Now we
should all jump on the band wagon and
solve it fer him. Cause he's super
                        farmer, greatest dad, most wonderful
neighbour, best marketeer, and a fun
                        loving vacationing, world traveller, in
touch wit everything, and everyone. YET
can't get along wit his local county
                        councillor. Suggested plan of action,
often used, never fails, buy the
councillor a drink, take him to Regina
and introduce him to a ho*k*r.
Compromise him in some way, then you'll
get your way. So simple, so simple. It
                        makes you smile........

when it comes to water flows and drainage the watershed is a higher authority than the rm and they'll have the say on where water can flow or be held up.

Our RM is much the same way, Saskfarmer (the one in
                            MB I mean)...

We just do a "Get this done... or else" type of deal and
get things done. It sucks to have to bully them, but it
was/is the only way to get $it done.

Since we have dealt with a huge water problem in the southeast this year I have learned alot. For one thing yards and buildings do have a priority, which they should. We all feel bad if we lose a few acres to flooding, but trust me, its a different feeling when your home is in jeopardy. Poor neighbor still has 3-4 feet of water over his lane to get to his yard. Now do not get me wrong Saskfarmer, I am not pointing a finger at anyone, but if you are the one that likes to make water run off your land you do have a big strike against you for help. Lets be honest here, people are not stupid, they see who is out making water run, and it does not go well for some it affects. We all like to say we are not affecting anyone, but speaking in our area, it always does. Sure we think we are draining in a run, but that run with the slow elevation drop in our area always backs up before it can continue on. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
