George Will has about as good a take on this as there is so far. This so-called movement is a flocking of losers who do not have the balls to get ahead, so they blame "the system". Effective management of business corporations, for the benefit of shareholders and employees (and of course the management) looks to them like wanton greed. Practically everyome in Canada has a direct stake in a healthy business sector because Canada Pension Plan money is invested largely in equities (instead of being loaned to the provinces at sub-market rates as it was historically). In general there are only three sources of income: employment, investment and welfare. Employment income can come from private business or the government. Private employers are the only ones who create wealth. One of the few common threads in the demands of these protestors is a guaranteed income for everyone "regardless of employment status". This is not the start of a social or political movement. The communist revolutionaries of the early 20th century had far more coherent plans for economic reform, and we know where that got them. The economic system of the western world was not imposed by anyone. It evolved over hundreds of years and it has provided more or less everyone who cared to figure out how it works with the highest living standards in the history of the planet. The demonstrators are punks and kooks who think they are entitled to a high standard of living without contributing or producing anything. In time even the general public will figure this out.

when one section of society is living to excess at the expense of the majority, that is when revolutions happen.
Just ask the french, russians etc.even america had a revolution over excess taxation.
Those who ignore history are condemned to repeat it.
I dont know how people feel in canada, but here in the UK, where most people are hurting as the bankers and property speculators live it up on our cash, unrest is growing.
The UK is maybe unique in that property speculation is our biggest industry, thats why a small cottage costs £300,000 and £1,000/ month to rent. no one can afford it, unless granny left you a pile.
I am a free marketeer, but not for housing , which essential for civilisation. one house per person should be the rule.

Here are their demands....forgive ALL debt on the plant, All of it, just forgive it! No credit rating agencies allowed! Open boarders, any one can travel anywhere in the world.(think there wouldn't be people living in the back 40 on parsley, cottonpicken, rockpile's spread?) There are 13 Demands listed, check it out for a laugh, this is from the official website.

Frankly I think this is all WH astroturf. A crisis is needed, hence the distraction to draw attention away from Solyndra and Fast & Furious,US drones killing US soldiers, Poor polling numbers, Democrat senetors not voting in support of Obama's Jobs bill etc. and oh BTW, did you all know that the WH anounced today that it's sending troops in to Uganda, oh yes they are!

The number of people in line ups to buy the iphone 4 were about 100 times the number of people in the occupy groups. The occupy people appear to be mainly unions, ex hippies and the entitled "artsy drug community. The question is do we want capitalism or socialism? Most of the generation involved in this is choosing capitalism, unless they figure out they can get the government to give them their Iphone4.

Quotes from Governor, Bank of Canada Mark Carney:

"The Occupy Wall Street demonstrations and other expressions of frustration with the global economic and financial system highlight the need for policy makers to show they are serious about forcing change, Bank of Canada governor Mark Carney says.

In a television interview, Mr. Carney acknowledged that the movement is an understandable product of the ``increase in inequality’’ – particularly in the United States – that started with globalization and was thrust into sharp relief by the worst downturn since the Great Depression, which hit the less well-educated and blue-collar segments of the population hardest."

I see this as the start of something that is not going
                  away.

The fact we are seeing a globally organized protest
                  is absolutely unbelievable.

Your grandkids will be asking you about today.

When the global inflation monster hits and pensions
become worthless and bubble assets collapse you
will see 100x the people in the streets and nobody
will hold them back because the cops will be right
                  beside them.

Then they bring back the guillotine.

Bob Rae the chameleon of Canadian politics...a placeholder for someone more capable of leading.

But very likely better than being on the dole in his mind.

to bother 50 billion is probably the ballpark, and
seeing as how ontario is approaching the quarter
