    Pork Carcass Cutout

The Pork Carcass Cutout value gained $1.89 yesterday to rise to $100.13/cwt. This indicates that domestic demand remains strong, even though the retail prices of pork jumped $0.05 during September to a new record high. Pork prices are usually flat during September, but strong export demand pushed prices higher this year.

Does anyone have a theory about whether the chinks
will import pig cuts or feed grains?

I think on the pork side, China is going to try very hard to feed themsleves. They will grow their own pigs, and import grain if needed. That is my opinion on the hog side anyway. It is tough to measure the impact of the prices they are having right now on their production, but given they still have a lot of back yard farmers, and if they all just keep an extra gilt or two they can increase up production fairly quickly. They will again back off on importing pork. Add to that they are building large scale operations. They will likely continue to have issues with diseases and production that will still make them an influencer on the pork market as an importer.
