    CWB ups the antsy.

Those looses are going to court to fight the
    legislation.
    More waste of our money.
Why not work to create a new CWB for ones who
    want it.

Whos in for a lawsuit against the CWB B of D for wasting our money?

Does the act allow them to spend money this way. I think its time for the folks that want change to get off their ass and stand behind the government and start making some noise before something stupid happens.

The choice side needs to get motivated here. I am prepared to put my money where my mouth is and pledge dollars to fight this thing is anyone else?

        Supreme Court dismisses CWB application

On January 21, 2010, the Supreme Court of Canada dismissed an application from the CWB for leave to appeal a ruling on the Government of Canada's advocacy directive. No reasons were provided. As a result, the directive - initially issued in October 2006 - remains in force. It prevents the CWB from spending money "advocating retention of the CWB's monopoly powers".

Larry, can the CWB directors be held legally responsible or does the corporation carry that charge?

Exactly Lweber, I'm not sure why this is not being enforced. Do a couple of farmers need to file a complaint with the RCMP??? What's the deal? This is crazy.

All I know is the Pro Monopoly side is getting a lot more media and beating there drums loader than the choice side. Even though this thing looks like it’s done, the Choice side better get a voice and make sure both sides are heard. Right now to the average Joe it looks like the Government is ramming this down farmers throats. People are not seeing the farmers that are backing them. If there are 30000 plus farmers out there wanting change why the hell are we not hearing from them? I know they are out there a little survey in my neighborhood would be at least 70% in favor of market freedom.

            Complacency is our worst enemy!

Here's a quote from Maximum Leader Oberg in today's National Post:

'“Governments can either obey the law, they can change the law, but they can’t ignore the law, and that’s what’s happened here,” Oberg said at a news conference on a Manitoba farm.'

Is Oberg so out of it that he doesn't even listen to his own statements? The Tories are doing exactly what he mentions: changing the law, which, by right of hundreds of years of parliamentary tradition, they are well within their right to do so. Even Pat Martin concedes that the fight is over. If Oberg were captain of the Titanic, he would probably deny that they ever hit an iceberg while standing in three feet of water on the bridge.

My hat is off to Henry Vos for resigning rather than be a party to this nonsense.

The BOD directors have a Get out of Jail Free Card according to the Paragraph you pointed out LWeber.

Maybe the choice side needs to show up at the court house on hearing day?

SASKFARMER3: Perhaps your subject line should have read "CWB Ups the Ante" or perhaps "CWB Upsets the ANTI".

I can understand that you are "antsy" though as all this "freedom" crusade is pretty heady stuff and it might all come crashing down because of a "power-trip" by Ritz in attempting to DISCHARGE the 10 elected members of the BOD and SEIZE power. Not a very friendly move by any stretch of the imagination.

There will be directors who, like farmers, can no
longer see the value in working WITH the CWB.

This letter of resignation came anonymously
across my desk this morning. I decided to share
                      it with you. Pars

                      Dear Fellow Farmers and Friends,
Today I made the very difficult decision to resign
effective immediately as the director of District 1
of the Canadian Wheat Board. In a letter to CWB
Chairman Allen Oberg, I expressed my deep
regret in coming to the realization that I can no
longer serve my constituents and Western
Canadian grain farmers in general from within the
                      organization.

Driven by a lifetime of commitment and passion
for agriculture, I sought a directorship with the
CWB because I wanted to bring about change for
the benefit of farmers. I fully understood the
CWB’s mandate and tried to improve its
programs and services to farmers under that
mandate. I saw many opportunities to provide
                      farmers more freedom, flexibility and
transparency, however, was in many cases
treated as though my ideas would cause the
                      destruction of the organization.

During my terms as director, I saw the decisions
of many directors driven by hard-line ideology
rather than business acumen. When those
directors continually used pool account money to
justify and support their views for a single desk, I
                      found this “ideological bullying” unacceptable.

The CWB’s decision this week to launch a legal
challenge against the Federal Government over
the proposed changes to the CWB ACT, when it
is clear to everyone that it will not change the
outcome and would not change the timing of the
government action, is simply wrong. A previous
decision to suspend a director for simply
expressing his opinion about the August
“information meeting” is simply wrong. And the
decision to allow a motion on the table to change
the bylaw requiring a 2/3 majority to remove a
director is simply wrong. Such decisions and
other discussions that have taken place around
the CWB table are not about doing what is best
for commercial farmers—they are the decisions
                      taken by “ideological bullies.”

What is happening at the CWB today is, in a
word, wrong. To continue to work within the
existing dysfunctional CWB board would be a
disservice to those who voted me for me as their
director. It would also be a disservice to all the
farmers who want change and an option of using
                      a voluntary CWB.

Furthermore, at this time protecting the single
desk “at all costs”, is in my view, destroying
future opportunities, harming the reputation of the
                      farmers, demoralizing staff and creating
uncertainty with customers and the industry, all of
                      which will cost farmers money.

I believe the Government of Canada’s efforts to
change the CWB are in the best interests of
Western Canadian grain producers and I will
support their efforts and the efforts of other
organizations and individuals committed to bring
about positive change for Western Canadian
                      farmers.

Meanwhile, I thank you for support and
                      understanding.

                      Sincerely,

                      Henry Vos

The more these losers fight this, the
more I am convinced of mafia style
connections they are concerned to have
                        exposed at the cwb.

Oberg et al are probably under threat of
                        his life.

The cwb would be a glorious cash cow for
organized crime. Imagine sfting of 2
bucks a tonne would give the mafia what?
30 or 40 million to run their
                        enterprises.

This clinging on which defies common
sense, only makes sense to me if ones
                        families are under threat.

Mafia to oberg, "you do what you can to
mainatin our lifeblood, or your family
                        gets rubbed out."

Or am I completely out to lunch? It is
the only thing that adds up to me.
