According to Prairie Ag Hotwire, the Bunge canola crushing plant in Manitoba is reportedly sourcing canola from as far away as Saskatchewan as short supplies in the province are causing crushers in both Manitoba and North Dakota to keep offering solid cash prices. With the futures market under pressure right now, crushers must offer competitive basis to entice farmers to sell their canola. The Bunge canola crusher in Altona, Manitoba is currently offering basis opportunities of C$1 above the January futures for November delivery and C$10 above for December delivery, which works out to a price of C$12.02 to C$12.24 per bushel.
