Time for a friday price check.

The CWB fixed price contract for 13.5 spring wheat at today's close comes in at a measly $ 6.75 per bushel(cnd $) after standard Manitoba deductions.

$2.30-$2.50 per bushel boys and girls.

There's a steamroller out there all right. A Canadian Wheat Board Steamroller and it's flattening all of our bank accounts.

Got an offer today of $5.00 barley (picked up, 5 bucks clear after all expenses). The detail is that it is going to the USA and so has to be bought back from the CWB. The way I look at this is that the CWB is sucking the buyback out of what I really should be getting for my barley. Tell me that this isn't a case of the CWB costing farmers money, rather than extracting a premium. PS. the answer to the broker was that there was no interest in doing business with the CWB. Further; it is possible to get $5 dollars for barley in the prairies; without going through the CWB. GET RID OF THOSE CWB PUPPIES NOW!!!!!!

Just for interest's sake; does anyone know what the CWB buyback for barley going into the USA would be?

          Good luck.
They will not comment until you have a contract.
They will extract all of the premium. That is my
experience. Its not a buy back, its pure and
          simple robbery.

You guys with your phony price comparisons are a joke. This has been going on for ages.

My lately departed neighbour had an old scribbler that he used from 1947 up until he died four years ago. He recorded barley returns from the CWB and comparable prices that he would have received from feedlot or local sales. The results were overwhelming in favour of the CWB. There were only a very few years where there was little difference in total return.

Perhaps had he farmed in AB the scribbler would look quite different.

The organic growers who keep track in their
scribblers had continual entries that said SALE
                LOST DUE TO PROHIBITIVE BUYBACK.

There were also entries that said CWB
                GOUGING PROFITS FROM ORGANIC
                BUYBACKS routinely DEPOSITED INTO
                COMMERCIAL POOL ACCOUNTS

Decades of organic money not going into organic
pockets. Because of the CWB. Para

As organic growers, we enjoy the close business
relationships and camaraderie as do you, with
                    conventional farmers stubblejumper, mustardman
and agstar. And you know now well that works
                    for you. Pars
