The USDA released their latest report on the combined US and Canadian hog inventory on November 4th. The report showed that the combined hog inventory as of September 2011 between the two countries rose 1%, at 78.6 million head, from September 2010. The breeding inventory at 7.11 million head, was up 1% from last year and up slightly from last quarter. Market hog inventory and the pig crop were both up 1% vs. the same period last year.
