Debate has brought out the worse in most people

After a recent post I started thinking that in an effort to defend our position, we seem to be willing to do anything and everything regardless of moral fibre and values. We justify it by the fact that the other side is doing it, so why not us. Lots of recent comments on how nasty this has become. My new resolve is try an move above this. If we want someone to respect our position then we need to respect that others have a right to theirs. Need to recharge the batteries and move forward. I'm running on empty for all the wrong reasons.

Actually Craig, overall, I view the AV farm
community as remarkably decent. Farmers are
such a varied collection of innovative,
independent, wealth creators. A lot of opinions
from so many, but no one has yet dueled the
other! But then charliep keeps us tuned in and
Joe quarantines us into shape.

I think there is a lot of questions out there that both sides and undecided would like to ask but don't want to ask, because most come backs are negative and demeaning.

There has not been one shred of evidence of "the best of people" on the pro cwb side of things - EVER! It is the collective way or the highway for them.

If any of these communists would stand up - just once - and say that their neighbors deserve to be able to do with their own grain what they want then I will see some hope in this debate.

It will never come.

There is something deeply rotten in the halls of that organization and the sooner someone opens the door to shine some sunlight in there the better off these 3 western provinces will be.

I'm with Silverback. Two unresolved mysteries for my generation are who shot JFK and who is on the take at the CWB. Don't know if we will get answers but the way the "lets just be serfs" side is wailing and moaning should offer some clues. HT

You two elitist turkeys with your "might equals right" attitude figure that only large grain operations matter in the grand scheme of things.

There are a good many small or medium sized farms that use the service of the CWB. If it needed "reforming" then that should have been the course to follow rather than the confrontational approach that Harper's government chose. The way Herr Ritz talks, one would think that the CWB supporter is/was the enemy of all grain producers by stubbornly insisting on its survival.

That one video on Utube where the two cows discuss the current situation is quite amusing. The anti-CWB guy/gal keeps saying that he has a computer so he knows all about grain trading and can get all of the latest prices so the CWB is not needed. Kind of reminds me of you two.

shipments and trade ideas and discuss buyers.
Wheat board involvemt, self-imposed, added
NOTHING except expense to farmers; but jobs
and contracts to employees

Might note the CWB issue is important but so are the day to day activities of managing a farm business/making marketing decisions. The volatility is likely to remain a feature in the short term. Solid information and making good decisions is still job number one to be profitable.

Hopefully everyone works towards a balance of topics discussed here. Suspect we will have more traffic/discussion if Agriville fills the full gamit of farmers information needs and discussion topics.

LOL, that does not make me feel better at all, that video is directed to be watched by non farmers in other parts of the country who really do not know the issues. A lot of grain farmers who actually do still get to vote in director elections are increasingly annoyed by the cwb's tactics, grain pricing options that do not match us to world demand. All western Canadian farmers should be allowed to vote in the cwb director elections. Not just the hand picked ones. Western Canadian Wheat is the only commonity that is forced to be priced after the close, not even priced durring trading hours, how silly is that?

I am a full time grain farmer whose only source of income is grain production. I am also a strong open market supporter. While I understand what is right and important for my farm ,I also recognize that this is not a view of some other farmers. Does that make me right and them wrong. Just because many of those farmers feel they have a right to force their idealogy on me does not make it right for me to have the same view. My point is we don't have to move to the lowest standards as part of this process.
