How does your so called "dictionary" define a know it all cattle feeder who chose to move all the way to alberta to enjoy our climate and cheaper land, but, being a member of the left wing national farmers union, believes it is ok for some farmers to force other farmers into a system they don't want?. That same cattle feeder believes that even though he is free to take his grass fed beef (grain fed sucks I guess) to anyone who will buy it, his wheat growing neighbors cannot be smart enough to market their wheat however they choose?

The Consevetives were given a mandate to end the CWB monoploy when they campained on a platform that inculded the promise of ending the monopoly and won almost every designated area seat in the 2006 election. They were prevented from carrying out that mandate by opposion MPs who were elected in other parts of Canada. The mandate was renewed by by voters in the designated area in the federal election of 2008 and once again the Government was prevented from acting on it because they only had a minority. For a third time western Canadians gave the Consevetives the mandate to end the CWB monopoly in the May 2nd, 2011 election. Now they have their majority so they can act on that mandate. And yes, a federal election trumps the CWB's phoney survey every time. In a federal election you have to be alive, you have to show up at a polling station and once you vote once its very difficult to vote again. In the CWB's phoney vote some people who should have been eligible to vote were left out, some got one ballot, some got more and some dead people got to vote.

We had wind like I haven't seen in ... ???? It was incredible and scary to say the least. We were lucky the bins are still full with August 1 wheat. Some of our unfortunate neighbors will be calling the insurance company tomorrow.

I told the grandkids today that this wind was the wind of change blowing the oppression of the cwb out of Alberta for good. Hope to hear final passage tomorrow?

By your own evidence even although almost every designated area seat has been Conservative for a long time it took achieving a majority, gained by electing Conservative MPs in other parts of Canada, to allow them to act on this election policy.
To pretend that prairie farmers felt so strongly about the cwb issue that "they" elected a majority Conservative government and gave them the mandate to reform the organisation is pure and utter garbage.

Regarding Fed Election: Maybe it wasn't so much who/what people were voting for, but against!!

The western hillbillies still hate chretien, martin, dijon, etc. We are still in an east vs west mentality out here. Any donkey could have ran as a conservative and won even if they supported the cwb. Just like any donkey could have ran as an ndp in Quebec and they did, lol. With oil owning the economic activity of the west and the conservative party, and the conservatives scaring people into believing that the liberals and ndp would implement NEP again that was the main issue that people voted against the liberals and ndp. The right nutballs have done a good job of persuading people that they are the flag bearers of western development vs working for the east or at least being under the rule of easterners. The cwb issue is a small fragment of the larger picture. I think gun control even held more voting weight than the cwb issue.

farmaholic is right, get rid of or change the cwb and get on with some positive debate to move forward, such as the suggestions cotton has put forward etc.

grassfarmer the cwb staying as is, being gone, or modified will not be any huge change to what farmers actually get for their product, but at least we can choose who is gonna screw us over, and get it done faster and not pay as much for it.
