I watched the vote, and I am delighted. An historic
event, IMHO.
I also watched the debate, and for the life of me I
can not understand the the naysayers of a
fundamental freedom to choose.
If this level of partisan politics is normal, I worry
about the freedoms of our heirs.
Cheers... Bill

I watched too, Tom. Wow did it feel good!
To see the governing party saluting the farmers that made the effort on their own dime to be there was great too.
Next step: Royal Assent, then, go after Oberg and his clown troup to recoup the funds they raided from pool accounts. That was our money not the personal slush fund of the crazy 8.

I hope I can count on the walking papers for the remaining directors being delivered prior to Christmas. That will be the signal that leaves the saboteurs whimpering. Change will be in limbo until they are gone. In the interim before next August; what about some no cost export business permit for such things as barley exports to the US. I know that there is interest due to a short and light barley crop. And what about the extremely short US crop of milling durum in North Dakota? Since Viterra owns US durum milling capacity; why can't they be serving Canadian farmers too? This change from a pure monopoly should be very good for Canadian farmers.

I watched it as well. Are None of you guys Embarassed that a number of Quebec ndp mps spoke on c-18 and asked for an ammendment to have a Farmer vote?
It was voted down by the cons,no surprise
It took the liberals over a decade to get this arrogant.
These guys went from wanting referendums on Everything when they were Grassroot Reformers to steamrolling everybody and listening to no one in a few short years.

The trouble with a vote is if it comes out different than the rigged CWB "plebiscite", (which it inevitably would), then the pro-single desk side will just run around saying it was rigged, fixed, etc.
It's better to just kill the single desk and let anybody who wants to sign up with the new CWB do so. The days of forced participation in the state trading agency are over.

The vote was definately the wrong thing to hang this debate on. But then it was the CWB grasping at straws that made it an issue. The issues of rights and freedoms, equal treatment of farmers all across the country, and the lack of real benefits to the system, should have been the main issues.
