The Friends of the Canadian Wheat Board are holding a protest today outside a downtown Winnipeg hotel.
The protest is against Bill C-18, the Marketing Freedom for Grain Farmers Act, which organizers say is being steamrolled through Parliament and the Senate and will eventually destroy the Canadian Wheat Board. It starts at 10 a.m at the Hotel Fort Garry and runs until 2 p.m.
Organizers say federal Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz is scheduled to be at the hotel from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Ritz spoke at a Grain Canada conference Tuesday.
