Looks like big crops in Ukraine this year and even bigger crops next year. Ukraine’s Agriculture Ministry reports the country’s corn crop has already produced a record 21 million metric tons with 150,000 hectares yet to harvest. Oleksandr Demidov, head of the Ag Ministry’s crop department tells Bloomberg there were 3.57 million hectares planted to corn this year and farmers plan to plant more than 4 million hectares next year.
The country’s wheat harvest is 22 million metric tons and barley produced 9.1 million this year. Total grain harvest in Ukraine is expected to be a record net 54.5 million metric tons this year exceeding the 53.2 million metric ton record set in 2008.
