    NDP would recreate CWB: Mulcair

Flanked by former Manitoba premier Ed Schreyer, NDP leadership hopeful Thomas Mulcair vowed to battle the Harper government's nearly-successful attempt to neuter the Canadian Wheat Board.

As supporters and opponents of the board's monopoly on grain marketing await a critical court decision later this morning, Mulcair said an NDP government would recreate the CWB if Ottawa succeeds in dismantling it. If the court sides with supporters of the wheat board, Mulcair vowed to use that decision as ammunition in parliament.

"If the court gives us extra leeway to leverage more support for the wheat board, that's what we're going to do," said Mulcair outside the board's Main Street headquarters.

Schreyer, who also served as Canada's governor general, said he believes Mulcair is the best candidate in the big field of leadership hopefuls to tackle energy policy and climate change, as well as the growing income disparity in Canada.

PM Harper/the Senate should ammend the the new C18 CWB Act to say farmers in the 'designated area must vote 95 percent in favour of a single desk wheat and barley marketing system'... before any new legislation can be passed in future Parliaments of the Government of Canada on this subject matter.

Imagine that an eastern socialist thinking he knows better for whats good for western farmers than the western MP's that were voted in by the people of the west.

I think getting rid of the monopoly is only completing half the job.

Exposing and documenting all the evil $h*t these guys did over the last 70 years is just as neccessary.

Constitutionally guaranteed property rights is a critical next step.
