Good post Parsley, very true and astute observations. Unfortunately the intent is over the heads of many of the cwb bashers.

Parsley, messaging is tricky business. Very few in an audience hear the actual message. They make their connection with the messenger. Do they like the messenger? Is the messenger well spoken, energizing, optimistic, funny, knowledgeable, or perhaps sexy?

Stewart Wells, like Nettie Wiebe or Wilf "Butch" Harder, just doesn't connect. Too negative, bores people with numbers, and did I say negative and boring.

On the issue of being out in the public though, full marks. NFU'ers are great at it. They possess the same gene as the occupy movement people.

It's true. Us marketeers are a different personality type that is more independent in nature. Independent types are less likely to join associations start movements, etc. No less passion.

Stewie doesn't sell. Kevin Bender sells. Oberg falls flat. Brian Otto hits it out of the park.

      Don't shoot the messenger.

Not shooting messenger. Not enough voices
accomanying the legislation. Too few doing the
doing. Need more boots on the ground. Not
        enough messengers. Writers. Twitters. Interviews

Should not be at the spot we're at

I agree. I email Ritz. the PM, and my MP every 10 days or so. Can't write letters to editor for reasons I can only tell you in private.

But, take care. In the 90's when we were duelling over the last wheat board reform, op ed vs. op ed became just entertainment for sme of the public and many policy makers. There is a fine line.

Sorry parsley. I assumed you were well into your 5th bottle of wine and wouldn't notice my comments.

I listened to wells comments in front of the senate and really wasn't that impressed. But then if the conservative senators had been doing their job they would have nailed stewie down on the buybacks he enjoys and his special deal bypassing the cwb to sell his grain.

Does parsley have to use a sledgehammer to get
people to understand her valid point
And for what it's worth calling pro single dealers
              "evil" is a bit melodramatic.
Find a solution by using the grey matter, our
single desk debate got heated and final vote was
still in Cavour of single desk but we reached a
compromise and finally 4 yrs down the track fully
open market, wasn't all or nothing we would have
had no change if we went down that line

You are right parsley! The other side has managed, manipulated, misinformed etc. all from a point of being on the wrong side of the issue, up against a majority government, with probably less supporters, and have accomplished total chaos, doubt, and fear for our side and the entire political process of governing if you really think about it. Not too bad of an accomplishment! Too bad they did not manipulate our grain sales to actually make us more money and do it in a way that was more convenient for us. Looking at what I see here I think if they wanted to they probably could have.

I didn't know much about Stu Wells either, prior to seeing him on the senate debate the other day and yes I agree Parsley, he may be on the wrong side of the issue, and full of crap, but he looked calm composed and very professional and credible in his position of crap slinging.

How many moons ago did I say get organized, and the best our side came up with is; lets all get a membership in the wheat growers? oh goodie, what an obvious joke. Maybe we should hire some of the unemployed directors we would be successful in a heartbeat!

Riders2010, did you watch Kevin Bender presen to the Senate Ag Comm? I don't know if video exists but I heard he was tremendous.

All this Stewie lovefest reminds me of a senior being sold a new car, the first one he sees in the showroom. It's really a piece of crap but it's clean and shiny and the first one he sees.

                  Shop around Riders. Don'tbuy crap.

Mallee, I have firsthand experience with these personalities. There are no compromises that would ever work. Ever. Period.

I never met one that wouldn't hesitate to tell the most outrageous lie to achieve their goals.

Are they evil? If they lie maybe they just bad. If they applaud farmers going to jail for donating a bag of wheat to a Montana 4-H Club, they are stinky evil.

It's different here Mallee. The left wing politbureau dips to depths you have to experience to believe.

No I didn't get a chance to watch mr. bender, sounds like a good watch though. And no I am certainly not buying the crap wells is selling either. But given the facts that all his tools to use are as you say crap with no facts and nothing credible, look at what they have accomplished.

The first thing to do when trying to defeat your rival is know and respect what they are capeable of. Looks like that didn't happen or like many more people are saying each day this really isn't as big a deal for the gov as they are making it out to be, but in fact is a created and encouraged distraction away from the much more serious issues facing family farms so it will be intentionally drug out as far as the grass roots supporters of the cons will allow it.

My 2 cents worth, instead of letters of love to ritz and harper send them a message to get the crap out of their asses and get it done right or else.
