Voting is fine for elections, motions at you local co-op board etc. But this is my business. No one has the right to vote on what goes on within my business. I will not surrender my sovergnty.

There is only 1 reason there will not be a vote. The pro CWB would win

Well maybe before we had a vote on the cwb we should vote whether or not ndp and liberal supporters would be allowed to vote in the cwb issue. That would be democratic wouldn't it?

There was no vote when this hateful confiscating organization was crated.
There was no vote when his lordship Ralphie recreated the cwb in 98.
There was no vote when the cwb expropriated the organic industry.
Therefore why should there be a vote now????

...because there is a government with the stones to finally do the right thing for designated area farmers.

We voted for Harper and Ritz, they are giving us back our property rights, just like they promised. I know it's a funny concept for some people.

Voting away property rights is not something a democractic nation even contemplates, never mind actually does.

And should a vote be unwisely decided to be taken, what would it solve? Would those who's views are on the "losing side" quiet themselves and accept the result? Yeah, right.....

A CWB plebiscite is a smarmy disingenuos proposition brought upon us a person with similar characteristics.

                  Tipsy,

There was NO vote... AT ALL at ANY Level... when Ralph Goodale did his Order in Council Directive Changing the CWB Regulations in 1996 forcing everyone to report to the CWB when exporting wheat or barley...

"14.2 Any person who exports wheat, wheat products, barley or barley products from Canada shall, at the time of exportation, give to a customs officer at the customs office at the point of exit specified on the export licence

                  (a) the original export licence for that grain or product, and a copy of it; or

                  (b) in the case of an export licence for multiple shipments of that grain or product

                  (i) at the time of every shipment except the final shipment, two copies of the export licence, and

(ii) at the time of the final shipment, the original export licence and a copy of it.

                  SOR/96-265, s. 1."

Rule of law and due process are a
requirement in Comedia, er haven't YA
heard? This is indeed a dirty campaign.
Results should be interesting. I predict,
down with RITZ, up with the Comedian
                    Wheatie Bored!!!!!!!!!

Tom, there was no vote in 1996 for the simple reason that the section of the Canadian Wheat Board Act requiring a vote (47.1) was enacted in 1998. Funny how that works.

All that Minister Ritz and the boys had to do to avoid this whole mess was to repeal s. 47.1 first, BEFORE bringing in Bill 18. No violation of the rule of law. No muss, no fuss. Too easy.

As it stands now Burbie-boy is right. At least until the Supreme Court of Canada says he is wrong.
