The Manitoba Court of Queens Bench has adjourned. No injunction was granted. Next day in court is Jan 17. Media is reporting – “Justice Shane Perlmutter of Queen’s Bench Court called the request “draconian” and an “unusual remedy.”
Minister Ritz had the following to say in response:
“We are pleased that the judge recognized that the law enacted by Parliament is operating.
“We look forward to the court date where we will continue to stand up for farmers and Parliament’s right to change laws.
“The Marketing Freedom for Grain Farmers Act is law and farmers can now forward contract their wheat and barley with a buyer of their choice for delivery after August 1, 2012.” – Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz
