There have been many great days in recent history: VE day ending the First World War, The day the Birlin Wall came down. Moon landing by US. The Saskatchewan Roughriders winning their first Grey Cup in November of 1966. But I will always remember December 16, 2011 as the most welcome day of all, when we finally have the freedom to market our grain, it has been a long time coming, but as Jackie Gleason would say, "How Sweet It Is."
having farmed for over 40 years have had an ongoing hate for the Wheat Board, just as my father before me had. The years of frustation of limited grain deliveries, the restrictive quota system, delivery deadlines, contract calls, permit books to fill out, they are all now just a sickening reminder of this socialistic nightmare.
Thanks to the Harper Government and the determined work of Gerry Ritz and all those farmers and farmer groups that gave their support and made it all possible.
What a great Christmas present and what a great way to end this year. Looking foward to a very promising 2012, the future of farming has never looked better.
MERRY CHRISTMAS to everyone and a most prosperous NEW YEAR
