I hope nobody jumps these malt contracts with no act of God built in. Most malt contracts that I am aware of in North Dakota have AOG. Some of the elevators up here are pushing these no AOG contracts. Its time to get on a level field . The maltsers should be taking the risk themselves or pass it to sombody else. Malt bids have been alot higher in the US with aog.

Just who is offering the contracts and ball park
values.
Also curious on how tight the specifications in the
contract are and from there, how much wiggle room
room there is for malster to reject.
Will leave the conversation on act of god clause
carry on. My point would be it is important that
terms be fair for both parties.
Don't know if it will happen but an idea is to have
tiered contracts with clearly outlined specifications
that can verified by third parties. A super premium
price if the malt barley meets high specifications
and can be identity preserved to the maltster for a
niche market. A street malt program that will meet
the needs of an export customer like China based
on blending in the elevator. An understood price at
the time of signing the contract if the barley is not
selectible and needs to be sold in the feed market.
Agreed quality specifications and ways of
arbitrating disputes would be a part of this system.

Perhaps unknown but maltsters can select to 110 % of
their malt barley needs from farmers in the single desk
system. In the new world, maltsters shouldn't be able
to select more than the malt barley they need and
from there, be held accountable to the specifications
in contracts.

Phoned Viterra in NE Sask. $5.04 metcalfe
new crop. No act of god. They did say
though that the contracts will be much
more defined and if it meets the specs in
contract it will be accepted, unlike in
the past where it was open-ended and the
maltster only decided what to accept after
the fact.
What are other's hearing for new crop bids
