    Chem prices

Has anyone bought any wild oat chemical this
winter? I have heard generic horizon is selling for
cheap if you purchase by year end.

I was not happy with FNA's horizon look alike if that helps. For 15 years I used half rate of Puma and in the last couple years some misses. Changed to Horizon generica once at the full rate and very dissappointed.

fna no name horizon seemed to work good here. in my my exp. horizon is always good as long as there is no mcpa or 24d in mix

the one that has never been great for me is puma. probably my water.
at these prices , you can afford spray everything twice anyway.

dealer talk i heard was 3-4% chem increases.

SF3, who's got generic Horizon that cheap? Nothing close to that here.

Used a generic brand of Horizon this year and was less than impressed with the results. Lots of escapes and seemed to stunt the plants only in many areas. Same results we used to get with Puma. Tank mix was estaprop. Does not seem to be the same product that syngenta markets. Horizon original has never missed on our farm and we will take a serious look this year to determine if there is any benefit to a generic. One missed year on good wild oat control sets you back five years IMO.

Going to try Everest 2.0. Bought a smartboy for $16/acre at full rate. I think you can go half rate with your preseed burnoff and then half rate again in crop.

I found Velocity to be a pretty good deal. I can buy it for $21.75/acre less 18% off through the bayer program. The net price is $17.25/acre for full rate wild oat and broadleaved product.

hopper if you've sprayed a group 1 for 15 years at half rate and started to notice misses, then switched to another group 1 at full rate and didn't get them, don't you think you should be checking about herbicide resistance?

I'm always trying to keep my groups in rotation. Simplicity has worked good and is a group 2, but if I keep using it I'll probably have to switch out the Odyssey from Clearfield lentils.

I sprayed Horizon for 3 or 4 years at reduced rates with low volume of water and it worked good, but I knew I was playing with fire. I've got neighbors who are battling group 1 resistant wild oats now and are depending a lot on group 2's.
