Hopper: I would be further ahead with your tax holiday model.

Pars: One of these days your over active imagination will yield a successful idea, keep it stimulated with what ever it is you use!!

So what of decreasing govt portion of safety net by same amount of tax deduction on the overall farmers, farmers can decide for themselves to have insurance.

It cost the same amount to plant and harvest an acre wether you have 1000ac or 10000ac. Size doesnt matter risk is the same. I just wish ag stability could get caught up somehow and not be 2or3 yrs behind. I had one crop in the last three also and havent heard anything from them. I share the frustrations those who are in the same boat but im also not banking on getting anything. Back in 2004 when it froze i burnt most of my crop collected some cais money, two years later they wanted it all back. That really sets a guy back.

In our area we are simular to freewheat with one more disaster thrown in. No one in the immediate area has recieved anything of any value more than the accountant fees. But in fact the program has hurt us more because some guys on the edge of our weather area that had 5 or 6 good years had margins, they bring those margins and bid up the rent for the area. That's good for the landlord but for all us shmucks trying to survive once you get into the loss years you need all your land to get out when you do hit the crops, but some have lost land to higher outside rent simply because those guys don't care in fact laugh that they are backed by the program. How is that for a slap in the face? In addition those guys bring everything , fuel food etc. put in the crop and leave. That hurts our local businesses and community because our young guys are gone and the outsiders are just tourists so to speak.

And what is going on with the turnaround time? I had my rejection notice months ago and yet a couple neighbors still waiting and have not had their files looked at? No wonder the auditor general slammed the program saying it doesn't work and is just as slow as ever, so much for all those jobs in melville may as well left them in winnipeg.

I find it really interesting those that use the entitlement word, socialist etc. how many times are the first ones looking for a handout. And for those that only loose one crop in 5 and then collect it is a "handout" because you shouldn't need it if you only loose that. But the program helps those that don't need it and nothing for those that do. Progarm should not be there to assist people that want another holiday but should assist those that want to try and stay farming.

Wonder now how many guys maybe should have spent some time talking about this issue during the last elections?

The same b/s happened here in 2001-2002-2003-2004. There were alot of producers west of here that had great crops up till 2001. Pay outs were huge - ask haveapulse. But for us 1998 was below ave and 2000 hail wiped us out. Guess what - well the drought years starting 2001 was not a complete right off for us - reserve moisture and nutrients from 2000. Just below ave crop. 2002 was well below and 2003 was just below. 2004 frost like everyone else . At the end of the day, 3 years of losses two break evens and virtualy no payouts ever. Same situation some of you will face - not fun at all. There were some multi mill
$ payouts from 2001-2002 for guys that just came off 5 very good years, and for those who needed the help the most by 2002-2003 got sfa.

Remember that the primary beneficiary of
                the government programs is the
bureaucrats that administer them. So if
we canned programs then what would they
do? That said I would can agristability
in a heartbeat as it does more damage
than good as pointed out by Riders and
Freewheat. I also have enjoyed three
years of hail in a row with flooding on
top of it. Would not receive anything
from agristability but are getting cost
                increases.

Nothing, guess they are shovelling it all
to Saskabush, causa the rainfall, during
                  the past coupla years.
                  IF'N YA DON'T LIKE SUBSIDIES, DON'T CASH
THE CHEQUE. Then you'll feel like a real
Angriville hero, not a pinko, stinko, poor
commie bast@#d, who should be lettin his
family starve cousin it the right thing ta
                  does........
