    Burbert

The wheatie bored has been on holidays for a few years now.

How can durum prices be going down when the cwb has durum 75% called and 100% accepted. They have sold it in a time of high prices with very little downside, right?

So why are durum prices in Canada for durum on the current year going down?

They had none sold prior to spring planting according to their market updates, the price rose with the problems in North Dakota, the cwb picked up those sales at high prices and yet western farmers are at a 4 buck initial payment and no interim.

And none of this concerns you about the cwb????

    Please explain.

At a call level of 75% and 100% accepted we should have over 70% of our money by now. 45 bucks a tonne barely gets the payment to equal off-board and that should have been the minimum starting price.

Oh well, it almost over to having to finance other countries grain purchases on the back of western canadian farms.

The $45/tonne increase in durum initial payment would bring the payment to $263/tonne or about 75 % of the December PRO. Would make sense. Spring wheat increase in initial payment would be in the $10 to $15/tonne range to bring to the 75 % of the December PRO with the caveat spring wheat prices have been continuously dropping. Pricing pace as indicated by the CWB hasn't been updated recently although the target is to be 50 % priced by the end of December.

              Great Charliep.

The PRO for durum has dropped consistently through out the year. At the rate the cwb is going, you could say they are at 110% of the PRO value. I am suggesting that will happen in February/March timeframe.

Its not hard to talk percentages and make the cwb look good when in reality they have just lowered the PRO to stay within the percentage.

Its a failure, plain and simple.

I could say I have flax from 2009 and it was worth 8.50 a bushel and now its 12.50 a bushel. I must be a marketing genius except that flax hit 15.00 a bushel and only sold 50% of that crop and the current crop. I am not too bright but I know whose ass gets kicked for being conservative. He gets a good talking to every day!!!

                  Dear Charlie,

In C18, did they clean up initial price increases to make them easier?
