    Hi Groundspeed,

2012 prices will likely swing alot due to so much market uncertainty.

Here is a good presentation given at the Prairie Oat Growers annual meeting.

I personally believe that the millers are bluffing. I don't think there are that many oats out there...That is all of got, sorry it is not really anything but a strong gut feeling. Guts for me have been accurate in the past enough to learn to trust them a fair enough amount of time. lol

Nothing will happen. After all oats have
been free and clear fer a long, long, time
now and nothing has happened, except the
price slides. Oats'll go down like
        everthing else. REALITY BITES....

Oats will be going up to a new level, without the feedgrain shackles the CWB had put on all feed grains you will get paid what they are truly worth soon. The oats reserves were all used up last year so that only leaves this years supply to meet the current demand. They will also have to buy acres now that wheat is the new crop to grow. I hope ti doest take till august to reap the rewards but just be patient Rome wasn't built over night. My prediction july-aug price $3.75 new crop $3.50 plus.

At least we have market signals to plant off of and not get f---ed over by the CWB and their downward spiral PROS, wonder what insiders got bribes and kickbacks to give our wheat away at firesale prices...I hope it all comes out in the audit and those including the crazy 8 are procecuted to the full extent of the law. The conservatives are already building up the jail space to house them... Oh yeh 2011/12 crop was not ours but the CWB's. This crop year cannot end early enough for me... All the best in 2012 in the free world.

                Groundspeed,

With all the colour sorters going in... there should not be problems with seperations and cleaning to get super quality.

The eastern prairies have the best basis... it is mandatory to have top quality to reach/catch the premiums... feed oats just do not pay enough... just like feed wheat. It is amazing to watch the feed basis change and tighten up in Manitoba... a major shift once again in feeding costs!

How long this shift lasts... will be interesting to watch. AsiaPacific demand will likely shift it back over time.

                Cheers!
