What are people seeing for basis. Over the holidays I had an opportunity to visit and discuss a bit of farming with relatives. They were delivering on July contracts at 0 basis. This says to me that some one is short as Viterra, Richardson's and Cargill were all at the same.

Rod,
If we keep selling Canola at this pace... it will run out before the next crop.
Nice to have a demand driven system... and smart growers in western Canada who make the price rise... before opening the bin doors and rewarding the narrower basis with more supply.
Too bad the CWB 8 won't open their eyes for 1 second... and then smell the coffee!

Downtrend is nearly broken,500 is a strong floor,we
may try to penetrate it twice more, but its looking
pretty good.

I think we are going to see alot of volatility in canola cash basis levels depending on your local supply and demand situation.
For those who want to learn more about how local cash basis are determined you can watch the Farms.com Market School videos posted on the Farm Management threads.
Here is the link to those videos.

I hope this helps you decide when to market your canola for the best results.
