You mean in the early eighties it was a "tough" call on
      making 18teenish percent on bonds?

      Or buying gold at 375?

      Not tough at all.

Cott, the best investment you can make is in the
three in that december letter you sent. It was
great. Looks like they're the future. Pars

Cotton?? What market forces caused bonds to produce 18 percent in them years, I guess its matching interest rates. Was the market able to handle them interest rates, many farmers went broke them days or did not go broke as they had more money borrowed that no one else would farm the land taking over the loans. I remember one of the local characters from days past saying that the bank will never forclose on him cause he has too much money borrowed, actually was a true situation. The bonds of them days were they secure? Or were a lot of them declared worthless? I don't know just asking, trying to learn.

Hopperbin: By reading between the lines, I think it may have been a Christmas card/letter with a picture of Cottonpicken's 3 kids in it. I would have to agree with Parsley, an investment in our children is the best investment we could ever make.

Cotton. You must be older than I thought you
                  were.

I would have thought you were still in short pants
                  in the early 80s.

Hope you still have all of that 375 gold.

American bulls is a website. Made good money
on DEX, not as much as they say cause you cant
always catch the price unless you are glued to a
                    computer.

Farmgal what does the hubby think, you must agreee on how to invest the moneys and also are you willing to do the work. My ex wanted me to buy a restaurant 5 years ago. I had no intention of such an investment. Then it was hog barn, then it was chicken barn, then it was building what other successfull in Sask. manufacturing we should build in China, then it was divorce cause I did not buy her a business. The farm is the in my life is my life blood. Have you ever heard the expression that if you are a jack of all trades you are profesional at none. My point is one should have their own main income then the other investments should come from monies from that main income.

Lol,agree,in the scheme of things the kids are most
                            important.

Bonds and interest rates are one in the same.

The central banks jacked rates in the early eighties to
stop out of control inflation, this slammed the door on
                            commodities.

This is it in a nutshell,i can talk about it more if
                            someone wants.

Well cott, look upon it as insurance. Chances are
if you invest some time, there's less chance they'll
be moving into your basement when they're
twenty five, with triplets and debt, and a soon to
be ex-spouse suing for their fair share from the
Hydes. But i know you will teach well. Mallee,
from the look of the pictures, it appears you
                              traded up. Lol
Farmaholic, you are a much too thorough
                              reader.....Pars
