I guess what i find funny is that the media said it would amount to $3000 a farmer. Talk about a farmer war if this would ever be a go. How would you divide it up? I am sure a 20,000 acre farmer would be glad to take the same amount as a 160 acre farmer. To complicated and its all administration costs. I myself think this is a free Merchant advertisement.

Dwayne needs to stick to his script.
To mention Adrian Measner and the Federal Government 'Mistake' in firing Adrian... in the case for this Class Action is a huge mistake that shows this guy has absolutely NO CLUE.
The Measner issue was soundly decided by the courts... that the Minister Responsible for the CWB had every right firing CWB President Adrian Measner. Clearly Farmers were not in control of the CWB then... or just before C18 was implemented.
By bring this up... Dwayne proves the $15.4B Class Action depends upon faulty reasons and legal facts.

$15 billion.
$3000 as a pay out per farmer. That must be the new math that's taught in the DA, as I didn't realize it was that crowded out here.
I suggest either of the following has occurred. Someone is either relying on an even newer and really, really cooked CWB voter's list of dead farmers, or the Merchant group has one heck of a percentage fee for a class action.

Burbert, exactly when and how did you acquire these mystical assets? Do you receive annual statements that show your equity position? I thought not.
This lawsuit is beyond a doubt the LAMEST load of pout-induced crap I have ever seen. It has zero chance of winning anything more than a fat retainer for Tony Merchant. It's true what they say that there's one born every minute.
By the way, if by some miracle you prove your case, what about the gain on said assets? Have you reported and paid any tax due? Might be a big bill.

I heard Merchant on Rutherford this morning. The
four hundred and some million refers to actual
physical and cash assets the 'old' CWB owned - like
the office, rail cars, the boats, contingency fund,
etc. He might have a case there. The 15 billion
could be best described as good will and intangible
value extrapolated. Ask for $15 bil and even if you
get only $1 bil, that's still a lot of coin. And he is
using the Crow Benefit Payment as a precedent. He
says he is working on a % basis assuming awards.
Say what you want but the guy saw an opportunity
and jumped on it as often happens in the free
market. Tom, why would you take anything Oberg
said seriously now, you never did before? A while
since I read the CWB Act but it seems to me that
there was a line in there should the cwb ever
dissolve all assets remain the property of the
Crown. Last point, every asset the cwb has came
from sales of wheat and barley. Doesn't that give
moral ownership to the farmers who paid the bill.
Oh, rewards would only accrue to farmers who used
the 'single desk' in 2011 and 12 and you have to
register to be part of the class action.
