Thanks, bduke; i used to celebrate Chinese New
Years with our doctor, so I know a little about it. I
think I was the Dragon-Lady today.

I called the number listed on one submission from
Boston, MA this afternoon.... No such number. I
looked up a company who listed their website in
      their submission. No such website.

We cannot allow foreign scuttlers to PipelineMob
the process. They will. If you submit your thoughts
to the hearing, post them on AV, will you? Pars.

Before jumping into the discussion; it would be prudent to confirm if we are all agreeing on the facts; or indeed the same project which is supposed to benefit Canada.. This particular project is designed to export over 500,000 barrels per day of Alberta crude to a Kitimat BC port. At the same time about 200,000 barrels of light condensate will be sent in the opposite direction back to the Alberta crude sources. Are we agreed that that condensate will be mixed with heavier crude to enable pumping additional oil (and the 200,000 barrels imported) back to Kitimat for export.
If true I see no gain whatsoever for Canadian energy security; or use in any Canadian's lawnmower.
As for jobs maybe we should slow things down to manageable growth. Speaking for Sask; the potash projects; the oil drilling and export logistics have not been preplanned or approved by Canadian citizens. Maybe that is impossible; and Canadians are meant to just be along for the ride.
Arguably; what is the sense in adding to additional housing shortage; inabilty to source and retain or the unavailability to hire employees for the current and imminent growth.
I was told today that one single oil rail project to export SE Sask crude is proposed to start at 250,000 barrels per month and could ramp up to 2 million barrels per month. The figures quoted were the equivalent of one unit train per day. (I haven't checked the math yet). The problem being that those volumes are multiple times more crude than currently produced in the south east of Sask.. A most interesting twist is that has to all be Sask produced oil. That kind of suggests that the interest and end buyer may not be our nearest neighbor.
The US believes in energy self sufficiency as a part of their energy security policy; whereas Canadians apparently view security as selling 500,000 barrels per day comprised of 300,000 Canadian crude which has to be thinned down with 200,000 of another countries condensate.
In terms of internal combustion fuels for Canadian use; is this not simply a sale of 300,000 barrels of our crude oil reserves.

jackspratwhynot: I will answer your last question...Yes it is an INSANE sale of part of our oil reserves at fire-sale prices.

The whole thing doesn't make sense...but what does when the PC party of Alberta is in charge of our government?

If my memory serves me right, it was revealed a few years ago that the first agreements with the companies doing the bitumen extraction from the tarsands allowed NO royalties to be paid to Alberta UNTIL the companies made a NET PROFIT over a twenty year period of time. That is what I call a "sweetheart" deal.

Current agreements I believe are not quite as generous.

Tom: You might want to modify your letter to the pipeline hearings, about what a good record Enbridge has? Actually they have about the worst record in North America.....about 170 spills in the last five years? Do you remember the devastating spill in the Kalamazoo River? yea....that was Enbridge.

                    Parsley... My letter... FWIW

                    Dear Panelists,
The media reports of the multitude of presenters and interveners of which you will be
adjudicating and reporting is greatly concerning me.

The folks out here have worked very hard, many times with little income, and have
sacrificed much lifestyle to develop this region.

Hopefully we will not be forgotten in this bureaucratic process.

We have earned our credibility and are not funded with foreign largesse, nor advised by
                    non-Canadian interest groups.

Rural people are honourable, trustworthy, practical and very conscience of our
                    environment.

Our stewardship is being noticed and envied, unfortunately, by many who have not been
                    nearly as responsible.

One of the most positive, safe, and effective developments has been our oil pipelines.

They have been instrumental in diversifying our economies, and saving our communities
                    and roads.

While the stewardship of this infrastructure has been good, today’s technology is
ensuring these lines are exceptionally well monitored and maintained.

We are immensely more inundated with our sewage pipeline breaks, overloads, leaks
and decrepitude than with our oil and gas lines.

Ask the anti-gateway presenters why a moratorium on sewer lines is not their priority.

I know Pat Daniel, the CEO of Enbridge, and I will attest to his unwavering dedication to
environmental stewardship, his absolute commitment to responsibility, and his history
                    of doing the “right things”.

Enbridge is very predominant in our region and is most highly regarded, in fact the
                    Enbridge lines cross our farm.

I expect you will hear many highly emotional and hyperbolically inundated presentations
                    and interventions.

Please don’t forget we working, responsible residents who pay our own bills.

Cheers and best wishes in your deliberations.
                    Bill Duke

My personal opinion about Enbridge is that they are the cheapest SOB's on the face of the earth. They are the only oilfield company in Sask who doesn't pay a cent of compensation for their above ground facilities on private land.

Their corporate attitude is well known by the oil companies who must patronize their near monopoly crude oil pipeline network. They practically demand full crecovery of costs up front.
Leopards can't change their spots; and what need is there to attempt doing so.

ASRG.... Pat Daniel spent months in Wisconsin. He attended town and
community meetings, and spoke to homeowners.

When he first arrived the residents were furious, and rightly so.

He gave them his word that Enbridge would ensure they were without loss.

Pat bought about 150 homes... he offered to buy homes, relocate, fix
                        whatever.

These homes have been slowly selling, as people are now moving back to
                        the spill area.

His personal guarantee, his walking the talk, and his acceptance of the
accountability and responsibility of Enbridge was paramount.

Pat Daniel was named Canada's CEO of the year in 2011, and IMHO it
                        was most deserved.

BTW, the people of Wisconsin now attest to his credibility.

                        Cheers... Bill

Maybe I'm wrong and Enbridge does compensate everyone for their crude oil battery site pumping stations; risers and pipeline obstructions within worked farm land fields etc. That company has been known to press "safety concerns" to the point of ridiculousness; and inconvenience and stall progress of contractors; SaskPower; and oil companies all at the same time.

Please inform me who to deal with within Enbridge; so that this matter may be remedied.

Without oil Canada would be a third world
                            country. Nothing else produces anywhere
close to as much wealth in a big hurry as
the oil industry. We as a nation need to
sell our oil to different markets in order
to stay a first world nation. To the
detractors what do they think funds things
like health care and education and
virtually everything else in this country
                            other than the oil industry.

Bill: It is good to hear Enbridge is trying to clean up its game. As I stated earlier I support this pipeline, but would like to see the process proceed without the government getting their big nose in it.
                                The hearing process takes 18 months....that shouldn't be a problem....we don't need the extra capacity until 2017.
Of course after that there could be court challenges from the native bands (likely), but that is the law and must be played out. Trying to put in "short cuts" will only cause more opposition (hopefully not violent!).
I have no skin in the game. I don't own any shares in oilsand companies, or Enbridge pipelines. I don't want a pipeline job. I won't have to live with a spill.
I don't understand the economics of shipping condensate in a continous loop from China to Fort Mac? Maybe we should try to get the Chinese to build a refinery at Fort Mac?
