We did some custom harvesting for them. They wanted to get up to 50000. Dennis said they got it for spring. Not sure if they have more or not.

Why is Pike not written up on the website?

So what is the deal, they want farmers to
participate? How by renting their land or
            sharecropping?

I went to their website. What a bunch of
crap. If they want to be the biggest
farmers in the world so be it. But don't
give me this garbage about how good they
              are for the community etc.

Why is it that people sell their farm to companies like this and end up leaving money on the table.

If it is a good investment for a company like this to buy a farmer out and then pay management fees and still make money, why is the farmer not renting his own farm out as an investment???

                I struggle with the logic.

And then to work for them in any form or capacity, maybe its time to watch "roots" again.

Its called "back to the Feudal Ages"...where you work for the Laird and his Lady. You will be allowed a small cottage and a small plot of land for a garden and perhaps a pig or two and some chickens.

Why do I find myself agreeing with you more often, lately?

Understanding other peoples logic: It could be a chance of a lifetime for some of the people who are selling to these Companies to get out of farming and get paid well to do it. Should have they sold to a local farmer, probably, would the local farmer pay these prices, I don't know. As I said in an earlier thread: the only ones that seem to see it for what it's worth are the ones with their hands in the dirt. I think there will be a correction coming, I may be wrong but....

Forgot to mention that those that sold may be thinking if they don't sell at these inflated prices they may have to sell later(when they want to get out)at a reduced price, for some it may be their last chance before an eventual(inevitable) downturn in prices.

I wonder what their average land cost per acre is, considering they got into farming at the absolute high for land rent/purchase.

Neat things happen when "farmers" get to play with oil money.
