None phone me. But I support groups who are. All your "enemies" have a voice in the halls of power, no matter who is in office.
Even if opinions or politics differ, respect comes with credibility.

I don't quite understand your concern
blackpowder. No-one is asking or compelling you
to become a member of the NFU so why do you
feel you should be dictating what the organization
      does and doesn't do?
You have decided that the NFU should not
represent its members interests in discussions
involving market development and access, product
development and supply/demand. Is that your
      decision to make?
You decide that listing cross community support
of the organization dilutes the message and focus.
I would disagree - I think it is very smart to have
the consumer on the side of the food producers
and these people are all eaters.
Your pick and choose attitude of whether you
support or condemn the organization based on
being in agreement on certain issues is rather
quaint but more to the point what are you, or the
organizations you are involved with, doing about
the important issues of the day like the AB Land
Stewardship Act, the power line fiasco, the
impending fracking issue? Do any of the grain
sector groups that represent you like the canola
council, western barley growers etc etc have a
stance on any of these issues?

Why would anyone rip Ralph Nadar? He cleaned up the junky car industry!

The NFU does some good work. They hold the government to account. They hold the big multi national corporations to account. If we just want cheerleaders for every stupid idea the government dreams up, then we don't need groups like the NFU. If we think Monsanto or Cargill should be running our lives, then we don't need groups like the NFU?
Someone on an earlier thread had a good rip at Jan Slomp, implying he was an idiot or a commie or something....obviously they have never met the man or talked to him! He is a critical thinker, who is very concerned about the future of agriculture.

I support an organization hoping to expose the power line fiasco. Improper use/loss of water cannot tolerated.
I did not use Ralph Naders name sarcastically.
I fiercely support the NFUs' right to exist.
I reread the news release posted earlier. I merely suggest you do a reality check occasionally to maintain credibility. If you (NFU) want to be taken seriously in the future get someone else to act for you.
Your list of supporters on your recent CWB news release was recently used in a seminar as an example of what not to do.
Recent events in Europe show we cant' afford some of your other policys. If you want to be a consumers advocate or another greenpeace change your name.
Of course I know a society needs a fringe. I support your right to stay there if you choose.

NFU ,CWB supporters,NDP and their followers, GREENPEACE,COMMUNIST supporters are all collectively the same people who have no vision except to live off the hard work of the majority of Canadians... They all sit back and complain until they get their way and a cheap handout...

The western wheat and barley growers have no relivence with the majority of producers either.

Its totally unfair and untrue to write "They all sit back and complain until they get their way and a cheap handout... "
It is true that anyone placed in that category has been deliberately placed there using every cheap trick to marginalize their solutions and ideas.
"They" are resourceful; "they" are an obvious pain in the neck; as well as a necessary thorn in the side for democracy. "They" are not a majority; and "they" certainly do not sit back and "they" do not force you by unlawful means to do anything.
Forced into a choice between "they" and "you"; and given a fair fight; I'd have no difficulty deciding who to cheer for; and always support in my own ways.
And that is why you would have them silenced; ostracized; tarred and feathered or exterminated.

OK profarmer I'd like you to drop the shallow
ideology and name calling for a minute and do
some thinking. You claim the NFU are "people
who have no vision except to live off the hard
work of the majority of Canadians... They all sit
back and complain until they get their way and a
                  cheap handout..."

So maybe you would like to justify that in
relation to their stance opposing Bill 50 in
Alberta. Bill 50 if you don't know is the
legislation that allows a power line system to be
built entirely at domestic consumer expense, for
the export of power to the US, with the
Government guaranteeing the operator a 9%
                  return on investment.
Just think about that for a minute in farm terms
                  - a Government plan to buy new entrants their
farmland, machinery, animals and buildings and
on top of that guarantee them a 9% return on
their investment all paid for by the taxpayers in
                  this province.
So which side are you on with Bill 50? the NFUs?

                  OR

"the people who have no vision except to live off
the hard work of the majority of Canadians...
They all sit back and complain until they get
their way and a cheap handout..."

Losers always know when they have met their match. Its not so easy for them to publically admit it.

The NFU is a calm voice of reason in a
                      hostile Angribusiness world. The NFU
has championed many farm related issues
and causes for many years in Canada. If
the NFU thinks something is a good idea,
                      the gobermont immediately assumes the
                      totally opposite position, accusing the
NFU of being a pinko socialist communist
                      organization. It is amazing however,
that the current gobermont of Comedia is
                      soooooo intent on buildin pipeline(s)
sooooos it can deal with communist China
and give away our oil! It MUST be
because the NFU would want us to develop
                      the resource here in Comedia!!!
