      Burbert,

If we had all those services on our farm site... that could be the beginning of a great opportunity!

      Thanks!

grassfarmer kisses a lot of strange people to attack his single issue.
It's quite an art juggling all those balls.

Despite the rhetoric Tom it seems clear you and
your CWB basher friends are too cosy with the PC
Government to do anything about the AB bills. It's
obvious by the fact that none of these contentious
issues ever get a response on the commodity forum.
Turn the other cheek and pretend it isn't happening
seems to be the order of the day.

I'm exposed weekly to anti-lines anti-PC messages. Strangely none from the NFU.
WE are on the same side, but Your voice can't be heard while standing in the herd you're in.

Blackpowder I think you misunderstand. You started
this thread by saying we may as well quit as an
organization because we weren't getting invited to
the Government backed tables like other
              commodity/industry organizations were. True
enough we don't get the invites, but to be honest I'd
be more worried if we were getting invited.

Our members keep informed of the issues through
the national organization but speak out for
themselves at local events. This works very
effectively as the NFU has plenty of articulate people
who are not afraid to speak out. I have seen this
happen at many, many events ranging from the BSE
era meetings in the beef industry to oilfield water
flood projects, power lines, to the CWB, the AB land
bills and most recently the AB Government "listening
sessions" Time and again when rural people feel
strongly enough about things to attend meetings
the NFU members in the audience are the ones that
speak loudest and clearest on the issues. Many
times Government officials or oil executives will go
home from meetings shaken by the show of force
against them at a public meeting when in fact there
were only a handful of NFU members in amongst a
roomful of farmers/ranchers who had just sat and
nodded their heads and clapped at the appropriate
times. In a sector where apathy and fear of speaking
up in public is the norm this enables the NFU to
punch far above its weight in terms of member
numbers. Thats why it is so successful. Lets face it
that's what infuriates the anti-cwb crowd the most,
if they really thought the NFU was pathetic and
irrelevant they wouldn't go to all this trouble to run
              it down.

                Grassfarmer,

Now YOU are truly a very good example of someone with selective memory loss.

For this you MUST find and read 20 of Burberts last posts... 5 times each... and report back! If you do NOT find severe confusion and depression have set in... then we will know the ColvilleC4A diagnosis is correct!

                    Grassfarmer,

Even you should be able to understand there is a problem understood by many folks in Alberta:

Ex-Tory minister Snelgrove resigns from party following criticisms of Redford

By Keith Gerein And Karen Kleiss, Edmonton Journal With Files From The Calgary Herald January 28, 2012

"A former Alberta finance minister and veteran Tory MLA has resigned from his party's caucus after making a series of critical comments about Premier Alison Redford.

Vermilion-Lloydminster MLA Lloyd Snelgrove intends to sit as an independent when the legislature resumes.

Snelgrove did not rule out joining the Wildrose party after meeting with party leader Danielle Smith last week.

As a leadership candidate last summer, Redford criticized Snelgrove's handling of the finance portfolio and dropped him from cabinet after her victory.

A right-hand man to former premier Ed Stelmach, Snelgrove suggested in an interview Friday there were issues beyond Redford that were at play.

"I would suggest that I don't think any of the leadership candidates showed any class, or very little class whatever, when they started to talk about the premier (Stelmach). Many of the issues they debated, three of them were in cabinet and one on treasury board - and knowing that, they were totally prepared to re-invent history out there," he said.

"A lot of them sounded like they were campaigning against the things they did. They looked like an opposition party. They were more damaging to us than the Wildrose ever was."

Redford said she had not spoken to Snelgrove and did not force him out after he criticized this week's provincewide cabinet tour.

"I am a person who ran for leader to change our party, and its been fairly obvious to me that Albertans are looking for that change," she said.

On Friday, Smith dismissed online rumours the disgruntled ex-cabinet minister would be part of a mass defection of Tory MLAs to the Wildrose party.

"He has very serious concerns about the direction of the province under Ms. Redford, as do we, and I'm glad he decided to take a stand, on principle, and sit as an independent," Smith said.

"There are a number of conservatives in the PC caucus who have tried to change the party from within, and I think Lloyd is one who has decided that it is a lost cause, especially under their new leader."

Snelgrove, 55, has been an out-spoken opponent of Redford since she won the PC leadership race last fall. He did not attend her swearing-in ceremony, telling the Lloydminster Meridian Booster a few days beforehand: "I am pretty certain that I won't be in cabinet. I didn't support Ms. Redford and I don't support much of what she had to do (in the election)."

Comedian fram meetings are the most
boring, snoring thing you kin imagine.
Talk about a herd mentality go to a
meeting and watch the hand sitting, lip
biting action. They agree to any sort
of BS thrown their way and love it.
Comedian framers are terrified to speak
their minds. Hence they love the
dictatorial way that the PC gobermont
governs in Albertie, and now in all of
                      Comedia. These boys/girls are terrified
all the time, and will take whatever
scraps the gobermont tosses their way
and believe and bull thrown their way 2.

Hey the NDP and Greenpeace and the socialist NFU are all on the side of building a 2 billion dollar powerline down the west side of the province to serve the east side and the east cental US all on the backs of the manitoba population, just to protect the eastern Boral forest...

This powerline will be twice as long as needed and will cut a swath though some of the best farmland on the prairies. The NFU has not said one word in defence of the farmers here... Took a drive up to agdays ,why do all the organic booth workers look like back to the bush hippies...

Grass; I agree that the NFU was really none of my business as I'm not a member, and perhaps I should refrain from commenting on a topic without better knowledge.
                                But perception is everything.
What part of your strategy has lead to the "perception" the NFU is fringe?
It appears you try to cover so many bases nationally that you border on hypocrisy sometimes.
And; why in the world wouldn't you want a chair at a Canola Council or Wheat Commission table, if only to listen??
But, I will invest some time in researching further your org.
