    The Future

My brother is an engineer and claims there is no such
thing as an original thought,i tell him what about a
    midget smurf?

Anywho.....is the future of fertilizer application maybe
an on the go soil testing on the tractor or drill with
the info relayed back to the variable rate cart?

Theoretically i think it would be possible to nutrient
map every square foot and adjust rates accordingly in
    real time seeding.

Man who ever thinks of that would be rich.

I only thought of it because of the on the go soil
testing machine they have in the "new ground"
magazine pull out in the producer.

It is possible, not so far away - but is it worth it in such a short season relativily low value crops? Current variable rate tech is still hard to justify here when the biggest limiting factor is moisture and frost. Too much tech can be clubersome and time restrictive. Maybe in the future it will be more reliable and effective.

Not to mention if something happens and it
is put "off" by a foot, or even less, then
you would be royally screwed. I think I'll
stay manual. I will buck these ridiculous
trends, and I will do well. How is that
      for positive thinking? lol

Really, I am not much of a tech buff. Wish
      I were born in 1936, not 1976.

My motto is, keep it simple. If we can't
fix it or repair it on the farm we try to
avoid it. It's getting harder and harder
        to do of course!

Take Variable Rate & Stick it where the Sun don't Shine. About that Simple Too..........
