Let us see. The CWB is now an arm of the Feds so why do we not ask our Min of Ag what is going on. We cannot bash Oberg... anymore.

I note the following from today's CWB press release (likely answers the origninal question in this thread).

        1-800# hours for March 1
The CWB's Farm Business Team will not be available from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. CT (Winnipeg time) on March 1 due to a corporate meeting. The team will be available from 1 to 5 p.m. CT on that day.
Regular hours will resume March 2:

Minister Ritz just gave us choice. He also eliminated directors that stopped management from developing programs in a voluntary environment. It took him a lot longer to get this done than he had hoped given that the August 1, 2012 deadline was the target. He has no intention of running the CWB nor any responsibility to run it. His job of making the board voluntary is done so now its time for the board to buckle down and get it done. The new board has only had 2 1/2 months (including Christmas holidays when many staff would be gone) to develop something that has not been done by this institution in 70 years....Oberg et.al screwed around for so long that farmer decisions are being made now without knowing the CWB plans....the Crazy 8 have forced this tight time frame on the new CWB because of their continued fight and court cases.

But management at the cwb are still suppose to look at and develop a Plan B,C or even D if required.

Whether Oberg had his hand in it or not is immaterial, someone should have had a plan for new programs.

They had a daily price contract a few years back, they could have tweeked it and rolled it out as a start.

..or maybe the CWB's ability to capture premium prices was a myth, cloaked by shutting out all buyers willing to pay more than the CWB price.

With continued access to government guarantees for the next 5 years, I’d say this is the time for the CWB to finally prove their premiums, or are the emperors new clothes finally being revealed for what they've always been?
