Just talked to someone in Calgary but couldn't get it out of him.

Mayo was asked if there was interest this morning on BNN and at 10am, he said no.

That is interesting in itself that in two hours someone thought on a friday would be a good time to buy them out. Although the last poker game took place over a weekend.

          Conagra, dreyfus, bunge, toefler.

I think cargill would have competition problems.

I would have thought the smaller guys would have got netted first.

            Bunge Market Cap: 9.71B
            Conagra Market Cap: 10.79B

                Obviously the CWB.

You don't have to be the big dog to buy out another company. Just have to convince enough shareholders to sell.

Companies that are sitting on too much cash are always takeover targets. Don't think the too much cash applies in this case.

Viterra up 2.53, on admission of expression of interest. It will not be a Canadian acquirer. Last nail in the transformation of the once mighty pools to an American franchise.

Just curious why you assume a US company and not European/Aussie? will be interesting to see where the fire comes versus the smoke. May it will just be smoke.

This is one of the foreseen consequences of the CWB dismantling. Easiest way for someone to gain control of Canadian grains. Thank you Mr. Ritz.

Smartest move the cwb could make would have been to buy Viterra out.

Not big enough thinkers at the CWB.

Viterra was basically bankrupt when it brokered the Agricore deal.

The cwb could have got handling facilties and market share in one swoop.

Glencore has a market cap of 44.4 billion would be in the running.

Or Cott may have a Chinese runway over his farm that WILL land UAE planes...
