Tom, Charlie or Larry, if memory serves me correct, is
AIMCO not the single largest shareholder in Viterra?
13%? If so, I would expect some politicking to kick in
before this one is resolved (thinking potash here).
Viterra Board is meeting in Calgary right now.

doesn't matter who owns vitterra .I believe with this interest there is some new money flowing into agriculture, and thats not a bad thing it shows optimism in our industy.

AIMCO has a major share. Not sure on percentage or whether largest shareholder.

For those who are wondering who AIMCO is, see the following.

            Good link Charlie.

Aimco is the prime example of money managers and
hedge funds waking up to the reality in front of them.

What is risk,is now being re-defined.

Gawd help us if the clowns at AIMCO get control of Viterra.

The performance of AIMCO has been terrible. Billions lost in some of their funds in the past five years. Nice bonuses paid to the top executives though.

I'd vote for Chinese or Russian aka Buhler, or even One Earth. They all want control and supply.

Wow, about 4 years ago I was pushing
buttons and asked my CSR if he had heard
he was bought out by the CWB.

I'm disappointed they didn't buy them
out, it would have given them real
                        assets. Handling/shipping/input sales,
as well as forcing them to deal with
reality of competition. If they want to
remain a middleman gouging the producer
                        it isn't going to work.

No idea but how much is Viterra worth?
Is it number of shares times share value
                        or value of assets?

It's been a long time since I thought about the
swp/agricore merger. Last I recall, ADM owned
25% of agricore united before merger and kept
that "equity position" when it became Viterra. My
                          guess is on ADM.

trading with yesterdays run-up in price.

ADM tendered all their shares in the takeover...at $20.50/share. The took a one time gain of $153,000,000 in their 2008 year end.
