I think a proverb which I read in a book as a kid fits quite nicely.
"Once an eagle was shot with an arrow, the eagle looked at the fashion of the shaft and cried...now we are being killed with our own feathers" (forgive me if it is not quite right I haven't seen the proverb in a long time)
Funny how we as farmers once owned everything that is Viterra and now we own nothing. However so I don't contradict myself we all sold it for the best price we could get and so I guess we can't complain.
I wonder if P & H and Patterson and other small independents will be able to effectively compete with the "Tier 1's" who will rule the market?
The next 20 years in the Western Canadian grain industry are going to be very interesting indeed.
