Ok, the tennant farmer was on vacation and his
landlords sold their land while he was away.
Correct? He then had to decide whether to sell, or
downsize and farm what he owned. Now the
tennant farmer can do custom work for
Broadacre, or be their farm manager. Wiin win
tennant farmer makes money on land sale and
gets a salary for doing what he knows best!

You just hit the nail on the head.
SERF, The tenant farmer now works for
        Investors.
Hm did your relatives not come from a
country that had this oh lets say 100
        years or so ago.
So you are happy when were all working
        for these so called corporations.
Thats the point in all this.
The guy took his cash and is gone. Broad
acre is the dummy corp that is farming
        for the investors.
        Cant you connect the dots.

I have connected the dots. The dot thats missing is you and the neighbors not buying that land, and hiring the guy to work for you. Ultimately, he made lemonade, got the results he wanted from Broadacre and not you/neighbors. If this does not fit your farm company's management style, then it does not matter. At this time, it matters for Broadacre.

Funny how it takes 18 posts to get to reality. The guy is probaly happier then heck. Sold out at great prices and gets to farm on someone else's risk platform. Good for him.

              Dave4441,

When dealing with farmers, there is always the story behind the story. Ask the questions, get the answers.

Yea hobby your correct to bad you didn't get the
story. The guy never gave any one a chance at all
we would have taken three to five.

Another option this farmer has, is to take his money and relocate to a different part of province. If he spends right, he can outright own more land and farm the new location. That would irk some local neighbors who wanted to farm/buy/rent the sellers land but did not speak up,or pay up. I do not agree with the pattern, but I have not done anything about it.

Oh yea he isn't working for them either. He kept
                    his side rental deals.

See hobby your not getting one thing this guy
                      didn't approach anyone.
Now the topic was do these guys get their losses
covered under fed prov programs who pay huge
rents land values, labour wtc etc. that's what I
want to know, or is there a cap.
Because let me tell you their last years crop didn't
cover their costs. Moldy lentils doesn't pay that
                      well.
The hired man took a Monday to Friday sales job.

In the early 90's there was a guy horny to farm the countryside here. A cousin of mine sold to him, I got in on the purchase with the buyer, picked up a couple of pieces that fit in nicely. Fast forward to 2003(?) and an August frost really hurt the horny fellow, he sells in April of the following year, I pick up some more and my cousin buys back in too, not all the same stuff though and cheaper than what he sold his for(not farming though-rents to his brother in law).

                        Moral of the story: Patience

                          the next couple years.

Yes patience is the way to go. Last time this bs
happened we st back build shop seed plant etc.
then picked up stuff I looked at for 30 cent dollars.
On the programs look at your margines, are they
going to pay when the shit hits the fan not likely.

You already said you would not pay that much for land, now if you were approached
you would have bought some? What am I missing here?

You got a point there Saskfarmer3 according to agristability you can go from farming 4 quarters and if you got a got margin you can go to 100 quarters and collect several million by farming like an asshole, so when accountants are going farming there should be some investigation into this.
