See hobby your not getting one thing this guy
    didn't approach anyone.
Now the topic was do these guys get their losses
covered under fed prov programs who pay huge
rents land values, labour wtc etc. that's what I
want to know, or is there a cap.
Because let me tell you their last years crop didn't
cover their costs. Moldy lentils doesn't pay that
    well.
The hired man took a Monday to Friday sales job.

In the early 90's there was a guy horny to farm the countryside here. A cousin of mine sold to him, I got in on the purchase with the buyer, picked up a couple of pieces that fit in nicely. Fast forward to 2003(?) and an August frost really hurt the horny fellow, he sells in April of the following year, I pick up some more and my cousin buys back in too, not all the same stuff though and cheaper than what he sold his for(not farming though-rents to his brother in law).

      Moral of the story: Patience

Yes patience is the way to go. Last time this bs
happened we st back build shop seed plant etc.
then picked up stuff I looked at for 30 cent dollars.
On the programs look at your margines, are they
going to pay when the shit hits the fan not likely.

You already said you would not pay that much for land, now if you were approached
you would have bought some? What am I missing here?

You got a point there Saskfarmer3 according to agristability you can go from farming 4 quarters and if you got a got margin you can go to 100 quarters and collect several million by farming like an asshole, so when accountants are going farming there should be some investigation into this.

Greg if you own most or all of your land
and its paid for what is a 200000
quarter going to effect your cash flow.
THe answer is Nothing! So yea Im sure
they all would have been picked up one
way or another and for same dollar.
My comment is this land is gone for 10
                  years or more.
Yes hopper your right on if accountants
are farming their should be an
investigation. Because this is BS if
their is a huge payday for shit farming.
Some one in Ottawa will wake up one day
and BAM! all programs will end. THat
will be around the time when we have our
next down turn in AG! the land companies
will be gone and yes some of us will not
                  survive the down turn.

                    FINALLY!,

About time actual farmers started talking about how this program is a bunch of bull.

It's destroying more farm families and communities than it is helping. All sponsored by tax dollars.

Looks like something we all agree on. How can it be addressed?

If government is going to review(probe) Agristability it better also take a look at social welfare, workmans compensation and employment insurance, list any other social program you wish. I would venture a guess the abuse there would make the abuse in ag programs look like pocket change.

Are you kidding! Million dollar payouts and there aren't just a few. What would any of those other programs say if someone starving got nothing and someone driving a porsche got a million?
