    Something to watch.

Potential for freezing temps in the midwest by mid April. The winter wheat is about three weeks ahead of normal.

That would hurt some of their white soft winter wheat, but in would also really set ours back too.

It is an odd year. Guys are getting ready but I think statistically its too early unless you like to say you seeded twice this year.

Too warm for too long and a cold snap, nothing would be conditioned for a frost.

Weeds are growing. Yesterday frost must
have come out because some sloughs are
        gone.
Winter wheat greening up East of Regina.
Looking better than two weeks ago.
Kansas will be at heading or just
starting. Frost Hm can you say screw it.

Heard someone from SaskAg(I think) that 2 hours of -12C will kill our wheat right here. Because of being out of dormancy so early, the chances of receiving such cold weather is entirely possible over the next month or better. I would feel the WW has made it till mid May. It's more vulnerable this year than most years.

whats your guys opinion on weeds?

two burnoffs before seeding or waste of time and just
              1?

Cotton, for me it depends what is being
seeded. Where I am at, there are no
weeds yet, and a late April/early May
start is in the cards, so 1 burn off
should be it. Where I am putting RR
canola, I will spray a couple weeks
after seeding. No one said it has to
                look pretty!

Supposed to get cooler and rain or snow
this weekend any way, so who knows? It
is getting harder to find snow now, and
boy that is early for here. This is
                dreamlike to me...

Cotton the weeds they be a growing. Ok
their starting to show up in spots.
Nothing to serious. Late fall sprayed land
                      looks great.
                      Pea stubble not so good.
Maybe this year early roundup will work.
                      Usually your wasting your money.

I think that pre seed application is a must this year, would hate to risk planting first and trying to get a pre emergent burn off this year, easier to do with peas. Went to Richie Bros auctions site to pick up a combine yesterday and the ground was blowing down there south of Regina, them guys go from flooded to now blowing soil. Perhaps some of that land should not be in crop production.

Ended up with about 6 inches of snow here west
of northwest of RedDeer overnight. Fortunately
the forcasted wind didn't happen. School got
cancelled so it must be enough snow.

Up to 1.7" rain and 4" snow forecast for Humboldt, Melfort and Wynyard areas.
                            Hope that's wrong. Flood again.
                            Happy Easter!
