Most of the above posts were in sarcasm. The
trouble is, that sarcasm is difficult to interpret in
text form. Either way, the crop will go in, and the
crop will come off, big farms and small farms. It
does make a chuckle as to what farmers think of
others and then call them neighbors.
I have a big farmer neighbor that bought out his
brother, got divorced and then changed over to
organic. We had a discussion about the
tumultuous couple of years he had experienced.
One thing he said I thought was fitting was, "what
people think of me is one of my business"
meaning that he was busy dealing with his own
life and not concerned about what everybody else
was guessing at how it turn out for him.

Obviously tstep needs a vacation, or a hug.

Do I really have to indicate when sarcasm is on?

I don't begrudge anyone who has built operations like sask3 and his family. It takes big stones and the will to get it done (and a very supportive spouse!).

Sold 10 bushel to acre Sept del Canola to Viterra(Glencore) at the last high. Not bad for first sale. A broker told me there is a lot of soft wheat going into the ground this spring. So wondering if doing the right thing sticking with it.

Guess I will put 10 percent extra N on everything since I am 10 percent down in acres.

Similar to when I said Newtie was a hottie and a
couple of people thought it was for real. That was
                deliciously humorous. LOL. Pars.

Sumdumguy: Not much hair to blow around here and have to plug one ear so the wind doesn't whistle through!! Doing things in the house today that I started and didn't finish. Remember I posted earlier that I hate wind and the sound it makes, needless to say an irritating day for this guy. AND it had been a windier than usual spring here, BLAH!!!

silverback, thats the best belly laugh i had this year. sarcasm rules.

in scotland we have contract farmers who dont even own the crop they are growing. they have huge kit, overdrafts to match, and a short life expectancy in business.

880-farming is an act of insanity.

Around here, the series farmers start negotiating
on fertilizer in August, before they have even
started harvesting. I am not sure how it all works
out, but if you borrow to buy, and low interest a
person can still buy for less than the increased
price under the chute in May.

We usually buy in august too, but this year it didnt
drop. Bought in feb for what looks like a steal now

Wow 88 cents per lb n at 80 lbs per acre is 70.4 dollars per acre. Then I heard someone wanted to try 200 lbs per acre of 11 51 to see if it works as good as pig shit. That 11 51 is worth 73 dollars per acre. Easy come easy go.
