"Came here to escape what is unfoldng here?" I assume you mean competition for assets. Which i assume you are unable to compete which is the reason for your concern. It is not 1910. Lots of people immigrated to Canada with money 100 years ago. Just because you came here does not mean you where poor.

You want to buy farmland in Mexico you can, there are no restrictions. USA same. Isn't Ben Huyde in the process of selling US land? Do we beleive he should have never been allowed to buy that land in the first place?? Is that what you guys believe??

Where did you garner this information?

THe restriction is 40 miles from the coastline. Any ocean front property has to be held in trust. Most use Scotiabank.

That's correct. Now what are the restrictions to
          buying land in China?

Parsley no one except a Chinese citizen can buy land in China. And if you are a Chinese citizen you are not a citizen of another country.

Just so you understand, Chinese people dont
pack up and just leave China any old time they
want. They leave only if they get permission to
leave. Farmers from China would have difficulty
leaving without the governments' blessing. For
one thing, farm peasants are the poorest of
society and couldnt afford the trip unless the
              someone sponsored them. Pars.

Pars that is opposite, Canada only lets Chinese enter Canada as a visitor if they have enough money for their stay here and then return to China. Which is logical or else they would all have one way tickets to Canada.

And so we don't hop back on the old " discussion
of stopping newcomers coming into Canada" ,
which it never was as far as I can see, let's be
                    clearer.

The discussion is about whether or not we should
be choosing immigrants according to a criteria
that better fits our needs. An example would be
choosing a fluid English speaking immigrant from
Malaysia OVER one from Peru who cannot speak
                    but three words.

Should land ownership be tethered to conditions?

Should foreign land transactions be transparent?

Should Commnwealth country applicants be given
                    priority over countries at large?

Should countries who do not reciprocally accept
                    Canadian immigrants be eliminated ?

What would YOU put on as a requirement? Add
your own. I consider this important to agriculture

That's right, hopper. Countless countries do not
sell their land. China is just one of them

Well ummmm, if we put education, money, ahead of everything then do we only allow Chinese to enter our great country? What about all the other cultures in the world? Do we shut them out cause only Chinese meet our standards of money and education?

The boy we had here from China had to get
permission, as in travel papers, from the
Chinese government, to leave China. So did the
rest of his friends. It's revocable at any time for no
                            reason.
Canada does not allow any person to just fly here
                            and stay. Including China. Pars

Then I am unaware of how that works. I thought it was all about our gov't letting others in.

Chinese citizens can own property, yes. But I
cannot go to China and routinely purchase a farm.
And I cannot go to China and routinely become a
citizen. We had the leaders from 43 state farms
here. I asked them quite a lot of questions. They
ARE communists and they believee in
government owning the property, although it is
                                changing just a little. Pars
