    The Alberta Election

One thing most people don't know how ugly the Alberta election is getting. The media won't report it, the cops won't do anything!

I am helping my local Wildrose candidate in central Alberta and everday we go out and fix signs the PC goon squad wreck. Calls to the cops.....we can't do anything! Thousands of dollars worth of private property being destroyed...and they can't do anything?

Tt gets worse.....everyday the (elderly) ladies manning the phones in the campaign office get several obscene phone calls, calling them names that would make a sailor blush!

The candidate(young mother) gets phone calls calling her a ***** (and a lot worse), telling her they know where her young daughter goes to school, and smears against her husband and family! Some of these dummies are so stupid they don't even try to hide their phone numbers! Phone the cops...."oh we can't do anything in an election!"

The Wildrose head office is telling us record the phone calls, take pictures of the trashed signs.

The chief electoral officer has stated there were illegal donations to the PC party....but he won't release the names of the lawbreakers....nor will he prosecute!

It would seem there is no law and order in Alberta!

This is what we're up against. A bunch of thugs who are afraid of losing....why? What will come to light when the books are finally opened up to public scrutiny?

Buy one of those wildlife cameras and get it on tape. Identify the criminals and who they are associated with. Then embarrass the hell out of them and those they are representing. Should fix the problem pretty quick.

If the cops won't do anything, make them come to you and embarass them as well.

Record the phone calls and use caller id.

If its linked to redford, she should put a stop to it pretty quick.

I can't wait for it to be over. In the last few days its
gone from dumb to dumber! There's just too damn
much emotion in Alberta politics and not enough
critical thinking. Kind of like the Vancouver playoff riot
last year. Not much of a testament to Democracy and
freedom of opinion in this province.
(p.s., before anyone gets their sac in a sweat, my
choice was made long ago and it was easy. I personally
know both the front runners and it was a no brainer as
to who to pick - and he happens to be WR.)

Has anyone heard what the nightly tracking polls are saying. I haven't. Wondering if all the emotion and flaming rhetoric the news media fanning is causing anything to change.

I hear lots of dumbness coming out of Edmonton.
The younger, typically left leaning University and
young voter types "we don't like the WR because of
the gay comment we heard on TV so we'll vote PC
instead of NDP/Liberal to keep the WR out". They
can't be bothered to dig a little deeper and discover
Morton's views on gay anything. It's unfortunate
when elections are decided by people so easily
swayed but that's the nature of elections I guess.

I sometimes wonder when people make these comments to the media if they are campaigning, or if they are truely reflecting what they are thinking. I think many take the opportunity when a microphone or camera is present to do some free campaigning for their chosen party or candidate. I also believe that the main stream media prompts these comments according to THEIR electoral desires. When was the last time the CBC showed how truely unbiased it is???? Or for that matter Sun Newsnetwork But to be fair, Sun doesn't try to be unbiased, at least in their talk show segments. They are upfront about their views. CBC is just sleazy.

Kodiak, I think the Edmonton Pastor's comments
and the 'Whitey' comments in Calgary will cost WR
some votes and seats. Plus we now have the Mayors
of Calgary and Edmonton entering the fray.
Grassfarmer, lots of people react only to the latest
headline - 'don't make me have to think about
things'. I wouldn't be the least surprised to see a
minority one way or the other with Brian Mason
holding the balance of power = another election
within a year. I think Smith is being perceived as
having blown it for strong lack of leadership in
these two instances, but then there is dirt fluffing
up now on the PC side as well with the candidate in
Calgary who as a High School principal was sending
campaign material home with students. I'm not
aware of any public overnight polling, but it would
be interesting. It's Smiths to win or lose here on in.

My preference would be for a minority WR
government. I think it would be good for democracy
in this province, have real debates, be back at the
polls in a year or two. A WR landslide would risk the
electorate going back to sleep for 40 years which is
never a good thing. I just hope enough dummies
don't vote PC to stop the WR and we somehow
finish up with a PC majority again. Morton might
decide we won't have elections in future.
Been a bad day for the WR maybe but not really
anything to fault Danielle on I don't think - just a
concerted campaign of dirty tricks from all sides.
                  Hopefully a better day tomorrow.

Regardless the overall outcome - Teddy is toast! Polls
are 3 to 1 to punt him.

Finally Politics in Alberta is getting interesting. Instead of having Another Coronation there will be an Election.

The Problem with Alberta politics is landslide Majority Governments - YOU NEED Opposition parties to keep everyone on Track and prevent the Entitlement atitude.

Whats going to happen to the wild rose if Danielle
Loses Highwood . Is there any other candidates who
can lead the wild rose or is it a one person party?

I guess that would mean the good people of Highwood decided that their local hockey buddy would be a better choice than the possibility of the Minister that picks the Cabinet and leads the province.
