Anyone surprised by the election results, other than the dumb researchers?

I laughed last night when the final results came in....all week the Wildrose party was going to win.

If folks do NOT get out and vote... they get the EXACT government they deserve!

It will be our NEXT generation that will pay for this election... IF Alison is as generous to the AB Fed of Labour as it looks like she was.

Time will tell if in a couple of years we don't look like Ontario... (massive debt) I will be pleasantly surprised if we are still debt free.

I put the chances of Alison pulling this off... without an Alberta Sales Tax.... I don't get how anyone can consider a sales tax an Alberta 'Conservative' policy that is acceptable in our culture.

Actually not a bad result for a party barely 4 years old.
Two wing nuts and not supporting the 'science' behind
climate change hurt big time! There was a big swing
vote available going into the weekend and it swung
yesterday. Tom, I don't get your ramblings about big
oil opposing WRP, that's where most of Smith's money
came from. Let's face it - times are pretty good in
Alberta and most voters liked the status quo. Upside
for me, my guy (WRP) is in. Downside, I rather worry
about the north/south and urban/rural splits.

We got our candidate in at Innisfail/Sylvan Lake. I didn't get out of the Elections Alberta office until 1 AM....two ballots missing!
It was a dirty campaign in our riding. The good news was we skidded the bum who was in there.
Redford played it pretty dirty to win.

Not sure its about getting out to vote. Word in local Sask is the pollsters only poll people with land lines and there is a huge growing populous going without land lines now.

            What kind of pollsters?
Gotta really wonder. I was shocked.

              Rockpile,

Just reporting what is being said out east in our country.

With the Irrigation/South area all WRP... most AG production is now NOT represented in AB COn Gov. by a MLA.

Will be very interesting to see how this affects Pc's AG policy... Property rights and Power politics really made things close in the vast majority of rural AB.

Tom: If you want it bad enough, it can be done.
In Innisfail/Sylvan we had a no name "urban" candidate and two large towns? We built a rural/urban team and we just plain outworked the PC incumbent. We won the towns and we aced the rural areas!
We worked every day for two months getting the candidate out in front of the voters.
Along the way I was there every day (campaign manager) with the candidate "educating" her on property rights! She is going to be a staunch defender of property rights!

                Watch for her....Kerry Towle!

                  ASRG,

Our MLA had a war chest. It was like Alison giving funding to the teachers to win the leadership. Mayors/MD elected officials... He had a VERY big following. Dougy G was the Municipal Affairs Minister.

I truly hope Alison does not throw Dougy G under the bus. If Doug can fulfill half the promises he gave out... it will be VERY important. Rural AB is now not well represented as many of the recent PC ministers resigned or lost in the election.

Change, change, is needed in Albertie.
Recent election and the shedding of
several old dinosaurs SHOULD result in
change. Now that we have and elected
premier, she and hopefully several other
young ladies kin leave their marks on
                    our provincial politico scene. Albertie
dearly needs a kinder, gentler gobermont
with vision to lead not dictate as the
oldies did!!! To bad fer the wilted
roses, this will likely be the end of
                    them......
