    Bump Disclosure examples

It has also been learned; and has been confirmed as a fact, that the "abandonment" of the CNR rail line from Northgate SK to Lewvan SK resulted in at least some RM's receiving sums such as about $191,000 for compensation of loss of rail lines in their RM. The municipality of Enniskillen received absolutely nothing.
Why??? Was there a credible enough fight put up? Why years of deliberately not informing those affected? Why not a lot of council publicity; and a call for public support?

Lost without a whimper. It was money that could be spent on some worthwhile projects that are necessary; and would be of wide benefit.
And why not free up some more money by getting out of APAS; and cancelling Econonomic Development officer contracts; and save the costs of the charade surrounding a ratepayer centered planning effort. Asking questions (that the majority have shown they will not even answer) concerning how we liked council's past impositions on ratepayers; is not long term planning.

Even if no one else is interested; these posts will be a documentation of one interpretation of the facts. With absolutely no rebuttal; there is no reason to believe that the comments arenot an accurate point of view.
It is not a case of the council being unaware of thes posts in AGRIVILLE. The whole council believes that such posted comments "that while might be legal; are downright arrogant, rude etc. etc. etc.))
I propose that there is an argument that public assets were disposed of in a huge done deal; in secret; and of which any of the details are ever intend to be disclosed openly.
James Richardson Grain company has an 88,000 bushel capacity elevator now stuck in the midst of a Corus "facility". The BNSF Grain Elevator Directory lists it as Facility#2312 in Northgate ND. There is a better known General Mills facility in Northgate ND; but I suspect that the James Richardson facility in Northgate SK is indeed one and the same as listed in the BNSF Elevator directory.
Anyway the Richardson faciity is reported as having a "Track capacity of 31 cars" and only 88,000 bushel capacity. I don't know why RM property might not have been of potential interest in possibly expanding their track capacity to more near unit train size.

Thats the kind of reason why a call for public tenders on land asset sales might have found more interest beyond an initial offer that is hidden from view until well after the whole deal has been completed.
Oh, and the RM got $3000 for 0.6 of an acre at the "gateway" to the center of this deal. A privately held 0.9 acre parcel was transferred only weeks earlier for $50,000. There's not one example revealed so far that brought anywhere close to market value for the ratepayer owners.

I CHALLENGE ANYONE TO RESPOND AND SHOW THAT THESE REPORTED FACTS ARE SUBSTANCIALLY IN ERROR.

Sounds like your RM is pulling the old "Inkjet Printer" scam. Give away the printer (land) for peanuts, so you gain the ability to sell the ink cartridges (taxes) for the life of the printer.

Why pick up pennies, when there are dollars to be had. That's some good long term thinking on their part.

Except for how ****ing stupid this particular council seem, they probably gave away some tax concessions as well.

Anything that is hidden from the public as oneoff descibes probably stinks with corruption. And it always seems that RM councils are filled with buffoons these days.

Oh yeh there are definately new tax concessions of the order of 50% and 25%. Not sure for what time peiods. No one has seen that bylaw either (so have to presume that is the legal way it was done.)
It's a valid comment that there could be long term tax benefits from development. I would only hope that those on agriville would insist that stipulations are built in to see that development promises are indeed proceeded with.
The limited information that is available does not support that hope.
And just how does anyone justify locking out every other potential business from acquiring public land during the period council conducted those secret negotiations.
There are always two sides (at least ) to every story. Isn't it funny that those responsible for the decision will not speak up in public?

          That truly stinks.

And just how should the winners of the "injet scam" be selected. Have some of you already forgotten or never knew that no one makes printers without long term prospects of making money in the printer industry . Would you only want one printer manufacturer available; because thats exactly what happens when only one party is given the right to 100% market share.
I call bullshit; That is the worst possible analogy for prudent sale of public property.

Although I can't argue with the repugnance of the backroom nature of this deal (as oneoff has framed it). If Ed McMahon shows up on your doorstep with a 12 million dollar cheque, do you accept it, or say no thanks I'm waiting for Bob Barker to submit an offer.

I suspect this council (morons or not) felt a bird in hand was better than two in the bush. After all, that is what they where elected to do. And that is what they did. The next election will confirm whether they were right in the minds of the rate payers, or not.

Oneoff thanks for keeping us up to date with this deal, with all of the changes going on in rural Sk. these days this will not be an isolated issue. Hopefully other councils will learn from this success/debacle, however it turns out.

                Points acknowledged.

I'll only add the comment made within council chambers "that it is none of the rest of the worlds business what goes on in this municipality". And like almost every every other decision; there was a general chorus of approval and concurrance as one after another the bullies lined up behind the lead dog.

No wonder it has been years since the last public ratepayer's meeting. Similarly there is zero prospect of using new tecnology being used to inform ratepayers of the actual decision making process in a live format.

It would be too revealing and political suicide.......

I sat back and waited to see how many replies
                  you would get, oneoff.

A lot of silence from the young farmers who said
they want to take a leadership role, and still more
silence from those who SHOULD be taking a
                  leaderhip role.

Too many of you are dog-assing.

There is no reason why RM meetings cannot be
posted on an RM website, an excellent
suggestion to use technology, oneoff, (my gawd, I
thought the young farmers would be crawling all
over it), where all ratepayers could log in, using
the password included on their paid tax reciept.

They should be posted and will be posted if we
tell them we want the minutes posted. The first
request should be polite. If they want to bully, you
can be sure a lot of taxpayers can get up for a
good pissing match, especially if it rains for quite
some time. Kind of get us in the mood.

The 'good old boys club' days have gone the way
                  of wringer-washing-machines.

Transparency should be an obvious goal of RM
councils. Unless they are incredibly stupid. Or
sneakily corrupt. In either case, those kind of
councillors won't be missed when dismissed.
Make some suggestions on how to make this
information transition from neighbor gossiping to
                  technology-transfer, boys. And thanks, oneoff
                  Pars
