Will we get to 20 Mill plus on Canola, N O !!!!!

Well the weather looks to take the first
week of May so ha to early canola. To
manitoba who is way ahead a frost will
trim your little seedlings. Sask will be
    swamped and Alberta the same.
So will we get to the 21 Million Acres
    the simple answer is No.
If Drews forcast of a late holds for a
late may Frost then all cards are off
the Table and we will be like last year
    or lower.
Im going now with a 18.9 for acreage.
It wont all go in the ground.

A few guys just started harrowing here.

My neighbors $750,000.00 seeding rig ready to
go. New 500hp quadtrac, new 15 tonne cart for
Alpine, new Bourgault drill. Let the payments
      begin!

Ha, my bourgault set up with Alpine tripple shoot is worth less than the tracks on that outfit - and will produce the same or better results.
Had to pull wrench's for a few days but it's rolling and doing a great job so far - again, for the 15th year.
Got rolling today on peas and wheat. Canola stb good, wheat stb wettish yet.
Some clowns tried seeding in the rain this am and said it was too wet - do ya think - in the rain, with a 80 ft seeder, 800 bus cart and 9000 hp tractor ??? Good for a giggle though . I guess they need more, bigger equip to get er done lol.
20 mill canola is still a possibility, lots of bills to pay for some. After the 15th then it may decline IMO - not yet.

S/F, look back to April 20th post, I told ya something was amiss. Dry spells = wet spells , sooner or later. Be glad you did not spend that vacation fund on that extra dirt.

years of this shit weather your hoping

The next time there is a few days in a row that is nice every outfit will be hammerimg in the canola. Alot of canola can go in the ground in a good week.Final acres may not make as high as estimated as alot of chemfallow that was not tilled is the wettest land. Farmers probably plan to put canola on this land.

I know its early Im just asking if we will
get to 20 plus million acres and I am
betting their is no way in hell we will.
When the nice weather comes next Wed our
area will be putting in Peas and Durum.
Then HRS and Canola before the next cold
                snap and rain event.
Durum acreage will start to drop off if we
loose next week. If we get the Inch plus
                tomorrow. Who knows.

I think some of the experts are missing
the fact that manitoba farmers will grow
Soy vs Canola and it is happening.

I'll take your bet. I bet closer to 21 than your 18.9. Not saying anything on production, just acres. Also, how did Drew make out on his winter forecast?

I think we as farmers will surprise
ourselves and hit 20.4 million. And yes,
some of us have seeded canola into june
and still gotten excellent results, esp.
in cooler/wetter areas. Other than 04,
our falls here have been getting later,
along with our springs. Crop insurance
is telling farmers to plant canola
regardless. I have seeded canola out of
necessity in the end of may and up to
the 13th of June, and have never had a
wreck because of late seeding. Depends
where you are, I guess. I have planted
canola in june at least ten years out of
the 20 i have been farming, with little
ill effect, but we always get water from
the sky, and 30 degrees is hot for
                              "here".
