Spain start a global meltdown again.
Here we go again.
Started with Greeces election where they
couldnt decide who was going to lead
them.
Italy has problems bigger than greece.
Usa dollar is climbing, Gold and Oil are
dropping.
So as we are delayed seeding in western
Canada. What the hell is really
happening.
Simply this is new ground charts dont
work etc when the world is simply all
broke.
So how does $5.00 for your fall wheat
sound.
Or 9 for your canola or 1.89 for oats
and 3 for barley.
Just makes you want to go out and risk
it all on a crop.

No matter how poorly a country has been run and the position they put themselves into, not sure if that's the right term.

We all need to keep in mind how good we have it regardless if its too wet right now and we are getting our brand new 4830, or whatever that thing is, dirty in the field.

The problems in Europe and the US have been around for a long time now and discussed on Agriville extensively. On the financial markets, we have had a pretty nice run higher (I can open my investment statements again without crying). The question is how long this will continue. I will leave discussion go on your day to day marketing decisions. I would be more worried about your medium and long term decisions around capital purchases (land and machinery) and financing. Risk assessment and planning will be key ahead. A solid balance can help a business survive bad times if they occur (I may be overly pessimistic).

What is interesting to me today is the re-jigging of currency valuations and impact on commodity prices. Canola is slightly (not a big amount) on the plus side in spite of a sea of red in US markets. A factor is a weaker loonie.

Able to hedge USD currency sales at parity today. A 2% advantage over the last month. Makes a differance.

Ahh, this is all making sense. Everyone is going crazy not being able to seed, so now the shop arguements between Saskf3 and his dad T.N.T. have carried onto Agriville! lol j/k
