Would it bother you if any council member said Guess I've got a conflict of interest here; somebody else has got to make the motion. Should he not leave the council table; should he speak to the matter as it may obviously influence the vote of the council?. What would you think if that councillors hand went up during the vote taken?
And I repeat the actual story; told firsthand of a councillor feeling justified to automatically vote against any matter that a certain ratepayer brought to council.
And I still remember a reeves statement that as reeve he could do anything that he wanted to do. He was told that maybe he could, but that didn't make it right.
And what about the golden opportunity that a reeve spoke of concerning an all expense paid trip that he looked forward to taking to near Niagara Falls to the "gear factory" of a well known road grader company.
Its fair to say there is no transparency, or true openess and consultation with the ratepayers. When was the last ratepayers meeting held?. How many people are involved in the development of Building codes; zoning bylaw changes; and attending and participating in the democratic process which should surround their municipal business. You can lierally attend a council meeting; that gives three readings of a bylaw; not hear the bylaw content once and never see or hear of it in the printed media or public discussuion.
It always bothers me to see standing ovations led by persons who have most likely never seen their leaders in public action. And since their source of information obviously doen't come from common public knowledge; maybe it is just like a councillor who declares a conflict of interest and then bungles the proper procedure beyond belief.
There's another opportunity to sit in the RM#3 Council gallery this Friday evening. To bad dung won't be there to observe.

Oh and the rest of council seemingly missed the episode. Not one hint that any member of council saw the improperiety.
That ought to bring on another call for yet another round of thanks?

dung..... Why not enlighten us with an ex[lanation of why your council failed to obtain a $300,000 payment for the abandoned CNR grain dependent line that other municipalities did collect. Why did we "go it alone"?
And since the RM won't release the mediation report concerning Borderline Housing expansion; perhaps you could explain on council's behalf our position as the major stakeholder in this busines enterprise.
And we are all still waiting for the details of the arrangement with Corus Land Holding Corp. Just give us a hint why identical lots belonging to the RM ratepayers are worth $500 (less several costs) while a string of private lots on the same bbloxk sell for more than 100 times that amount.
And on a more futuristic note; tell us how everyone is ging to get infrastucture roads and bus service to their new four new residential site on every quarter section; when the RM is on record as claiming they can not/will not even provide access to current land owners property. And then to deny "anyone" to maintain or improve "unmaintained roads" even if a person does it entirely at their own cost.
And if anyone thinks this small collection of issues are not noteworthy; then perhaps others could complile their list of examples of why we should constain that standing ovation.
Everyone including dung needs to open their eyes widely.

There have been examples of companies and individuals who have gone well beyond paying their taxes. They have voluntarily created campsites at local parks, constructed functional and used roads on municipal road allowances and might still be willing to do things that the council can't or won't do.
But show me the public thanks for these projects that are worth tens of thousands of anyone's money
In several cases council has lookedat those construction projects as more of a liability than an asset. In others there was no support from council when chronic complainers wished to cut their nose off to spite their own face.
I call for a vote of thanks to the relatively few volunteers (in shrinking numbers) and those who give their time and do not expect or get remuneration for any of their efforts to get the government they deserve.

Its a pretty shallow and hollow call to propose a vote of thanks .....when you can't come up with a solid rebuttal to any of a list of damning statements.

Council meetin tonight. Whole world is being mislead; but everyone local knows everything that is going on.........Quite a tirade about a coward......could be considered real cheap shots especially since no opportunity for rebuttal......but definately no need for a ratepayer's meeting..... concern about open mike at such a meeting. And on and on
              Oh my God

Complete end of story unless someone won't let sleeping dogs lie.
Due to a lack of interest this is a final goodbye.
