    fine?
Thinking maybe doing one of our deere's with a
    track kit.

John Deere better come out with a quad trac
soon. Four more quadtrac's in my
neighbourhood just this past year. They have an
      industrial/smaller version already, their "high
speed dozer" what's the hold up???

I dont get it either. They think the 9630T
is the answer. NO NO NO> maybe for row
crop but not for canada. Yes Deere has the
high speed dozer with very nice tracks.

It is my second year on the ATI tracks, now have 700 hrs on them. This was the first T9 New Holland tractor to be outfitted with these, Markusson NH worked pretty hard to make it happen. It certainly was a strong message to New Holland that they needed to provide the option.
They are built tough and heavy at 7500# each. Put them next to the red quad track version and you will very quickly see the difference in quality.
Expensive too but when you figure that you do not need any extra ballast and that they will still have some resale value the difference between the tracks and the best tires is quite minimal.
Traction and floatation in wet conditions is unequaled but there is still a limit and I found it last year. when I got stuck it reminded me of what an old guy told me about 4x4 trucks: "you don't need it, you will just get stuck further in the mud than a 2wd" He had a point, but I am sure not too many would buy a 2wd truck over a 4X4 anymore. Last year we probably would have had to give up on 15% more of our acres if not for the tracks.
And now with the way the weather is shaping up it looks like they will be quite handy again. We have 17% to go. Hope the sunshine shows up soon.
Stop by some time on your commute from Regina, we are only 6km north of hwy 10. 699-7620

Once you've had tracks, you'll never want tires again.

I'm using the Caterpillar, good machine, but if you get yourself in too far they're hard to turn. That being said, you'll get stuck with a 4 wheel drive trying to get to the spot that the Cat has trouble.

Neighbor came over with his tripled up Case IH tractor and JD disk drill to help me finish up seeding. When he got stuck, I'd pull him out and then seed through the spot he got stuck in. Not sure if it's all in the tracks though, maybe that JD drill doesn't float as well as the Flexicoil 6000?

Not trying to be negative here but anywhere you would need tracks "to get through" and where tires can't go, do you get proper crop establishment anyway? The oldtimer here that helps me always told me greasing it in never gets results, what are you guys finding?

Depends on what happens after you seed, and
the soil type. I've had it drown out anyway, but at
other times it's the best yielding stuff in the field.
Most of the time I'd rather risk a little seed and
                fertilizer.

Then there's the places that look dry and you
don't know they're wet until you're already into
them. Those are the times when you're glad you
                have the extra traction.

Maybe in some soils, but if we pack it wet then it dries up, it turns to concrete and spindly plants lacking oxygen.
