Got a call yesterday that they wanted a 130tonnes of feed barley ASAP, like
yesterday or today. I was in tractor seeding at the time. I starting phoning
for a truck and set up the auger after it started raining. Today at 7AM
in the rain the truck driver phoned to say they didn't need the barley.
This contract was sign over a month ago and was promised to take it before
seeding.
Are larger producers getting treated the same or do they just go after the smaller
units, as they don't care if the producer deliver or goes elsewhere. They can't
say there is a car shortage. Today I drove a 20mile parts run along an unused
rail line. For the nearly the full 20 miles it was car except for the crossing
breaks.
This is not the first time with the same company. A few years ago a malt barley
contract when the same way. They kept putting my off for months. Final asked and
told they I was heading to BC for a week. I didn't make it to Vancouver before
I got a call. I made the arrangement with the trucker and turned around, only to
get a call on the day to deliver that they didn't want any grain that week.
Maybe I am just stupid to keep dealing.
